You had me worried there for a minute. Thought Keef might have croaked. Or his legs had gone. 😱

What a guy. Got away with it. So far. 😀

Love all the KR stories. The best ones are of course all the shots by Ron Wood. Seems to me they would have to have remained somewhat down to earth to tolerate all the shots even after all these years of stardom. Love the story where Ron yells "you're playing it wrong" to Keef and he yells back "how can I be playing it wrong, I wrote the ******* song!"
That's a funny story leadbelly. 😀
I like the one where Keef is asked about his problems with drugs.
"I've never had a problem with drugs. But problems with Drugs and Policemen..." 😀

another one of his quotes "I've never tried to achieve anything. I achieved everything I wanted to achieve by being in the Rolling Stones and making records."
and "It's great to be here. It's great to be anywhere."

That was a laugh. Keef is deeply intelligent and radical. Pick up his biography if you see it. Certain dynamic tension between him and Jagger. Competiton for the floozies. I always have a pint at the Rolling Stones pub when I visit London. It's a gin palace in St. Martins Lane. Just completes the day.
Life: Keith Richards: Amazon.co.uk: Richards, Keith: 9780753826614: Books
Growing up in the dull dump of Gravesend or was it Dartford, he decided to make his own entertainment. His understanding of Irony is exquisite.

I got that book at a yard sale and read it. Regarding his heroin addiction, he says something like (paraphrasing) "Three major arrests, 7 cold-turkeys - was it worth it? Yep."
Clearly he really liked his drugs when he was able. Didnt he also have a liver transplant? The book spoke more about some other life-saving operation he had...

I didn't know he'd wrecked his Liver, if it is so.
He always bought good quality drugs apparently. None of that mixing down. Could go for a week without sleep in the recording studio. Doubtless perfecting things like "Start me Up" which has got the best exciting opening riff I can think of. 😀
The Pub is called "The Salisbury" in St. Martins Lane. It's beautiful. Gin Palace Glass, suitably dark.
They have a photo on the Wall of Marianne Faithfull looking quite Gorgeous and maybe wasted in the Salisbury. I always point it out to my friends when we pay homage:

A delicate flower who lost her reputation at 19 and was lucky to survive a full-time heroin addiction.
Marianne is now a fully-paid-up member of the reformed hellraiser group, joining the Ronnie Woods and Mick Jaggers of this world with their cranberry juice and vitamin cocktails.

Irony. I recall an interview in the recent past where he slagged off the Beatles for their lack of creativeness compared to the Stones heritage based on the blues.. 😉
I sound like Michael Caine here, but I used to do an extremely dull job as a tour guide at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard:
Explore Vice-Admiral Lord Nelson's past
As you entered the Nelson Gallery, you were presented with a recreation of life below decks at the horrible Battle of Trafalgar.
Splinters and limbs flying in all directions. Not many people know this. The Museum had gone a bit cheapish and bought some waxwork figures from Madame Tussauds to re-enact the horror. Happened they'd bought the Rolling Stones dummies. 😕
Great to see Jagger, Keef and Bill Wyman fighting off those Frenchies. I think Charlie Watts ended up flat on his back. Well, always made me laugh! 😀

Currently, Mick Jagger is on display at Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum in Las Vegas.
I wonder if you can still see the Beatles in Great Yarmouth. Perhaps they've also been repurposed for a diorama by now.
They certainly look as if they've been in the wars!

Seriously, the re-purposed Keef into a swashbuckler ? - well, I'd say he'd have been very well suited to the job!
