KEFKIT 104aB cabinet assembly
Here you are.....the pages you need. fyi, I still have the speakers I built back in 1980 and also have a factory made pair of 104aB, and spare drive units and crossovers. Intend to keep these beauties running! Good luck. Norm.

Hi Dave.Cool, Wieslaw. A scan i did (you can see my values placed on the XO diagram), from an official documant straight from KEF (late ‘70s), part of a big blue binder of really interesting stuff and a live set of 104ab.

I still have and use the good old PRO9 TL of 1976. Now I am going to obtain a pair of Magnepan LRS and wonder if it's a step in a good direction... I keep all the spare drivers, caps and inductors for PRO9 just in case.
Also, I still have and use a DIY Tangent RS4/Tabor version with Dalesford D50 and Seas H217.
I often look at your site regarding transmission line speakers.
Best wishes, Dave.
There are 2 versions of the Pro9, both designed by Chris Rogers.

Back around 1982 there was a rather simple and cheap speaker design in The Absolute Sound that may have been designed by Lynn Olson. The design used one or more electrolytic caps . In an update to the article the author said the ESR of the electrolytic caps had been included in the crossover design so anyone upgrading to film caps needed to add some series resistance to the replacement caps. I would assume the same would apply for these old designs too.

Hi Norm, thanks a lot..these are the pages I was after. I can now pass them onto my woodworking friend to make them. The used kit I bought was from another friend who like you bought them new. He had been using them with some Quad amps, possibly the same as you judging by your user name.
Yep, been using my 104aB speakers with Quad 33/303, 44/405 (& 606/II), Quad 22 & II valve set amps -- all of which I rotate periodically to even out usage. Fyi, I built the cabinets from the high density chipboard as suggested by KEF and then applied 5mm thick red faced ply on all exterior sides which I then varnished, sanded, varnished several times to give a beautiful mahogany look. The interior sides and rear was lined with BAF wadding. My cabinets are actually heavier than the factory examples and more 'dead' when tapped. I wonder if with this current trend of 'heritage' releases, e.g. Wharfedale Linton, Falcon LS3/5a, whether KEF might jump on the bandwagon and do a 104aB re-issue -- now that would be interesting and bet they wouldn't be cheap! Norm.
I have a 104 and could give external dimensions it's actually a spare cabinet with just a passive radiator in it I'm about to sell. Let me know if you want dimensionsAbout 5 years ago I purchased the KEF Kit 104aB kit off a friend, with the intention of building some new cabinets. Unfortunately I have moved house twice since then and have mislaid the assembly instructions, meaning that I do not know the dimensions, etc to build the cabinets
No problem I thought, I'll just google them - everything is on the internet. Well, after hours of searching online I have not been able to find a copy of them. The KEF site has the original owners manual for the non-kit version, but not the assembly instructions.
Does anyone have a copy, or could someone please point me to where I can find it.
Thanks in advance.
They are Chris Rogers's Domestic Monitor (Acoustic Labirynth).
I built them back in 1976. I am well aware of the difference, but I want to try something new after all these years.
Here is a photo.
My build as an enthusiastic 19 year old. Mine had the peerless enclosed midrange and the optional sonaudax. Ironically I sold them to 19 yr old engineering student a few of years ago. Beloved 405 replaced by 300b and 6as7 valve amps in the listening room driving a small fullrange speaker in a TL.Yes, they are the Mk2 - with just three drivers.
I bought the kit at Badger Sound Services and cut the boards by myself. Back in '76 it was not an easy project to make.
