Still have not been able to identify the speakers I have. But was able to get the midranges refoamed and fix. They are now playing.
Just hooked them up for test to a vintage Fisher receiver (still need to clean the connections); I suspect it is not like a big new power amp, but also suspect while having a pleasant deep bass, the B139 is not particularly efficient or in other words, a bit power hungry. I will pull out a simple but bit newer/more powerful receiver for further testing.
For identification, would photos of the printed boards provide more info?

Andrewbee, you are the MAN! Thank you. Now will hunt for details (crossover, tweeter, inside of enclosure/design (is it a TL or 'open' or horn or ???).
Thanks. Rare bird, cannot find any details on its build (or crossover, etc). Also wondering how original 'hat' was built (wood frame with cloth), and the front cover.
May or may not reveal everything. But if no drawings or schematics exist, then that may be the only way to find out a bit more.
These speakers are said to be originally designed in the 1980's by John Jeffries of Eastbourne, East Sussex.
