KDS Rad5 Backlight Issues

I had my KDS Rad5 backlight apparently die on me a few weeks ago. I can see the picture (faintly) by shining a flashlight onto the LCD, so I think the LCD and controller are still good. Is the long board (about 1 1/2 x 6 inches) the backlight inverter, and does that need to be replaced? I went through a short bout of being able to turn on the monitor and *sometimes* have the backlight come on. Now, it doesn't come on at all. I searched the forums & noticed that someone else said that the inverter is the same one used on some cold cathode case mod inverters. Does anybody know which one and where to get it?

The inverter has this written on it:

SAMPO
5 94V-0

QPWBGL926IDG---

Not sure if that helps or not. Please let me know if this can be fixed, or if this monitor could be used as a DIY projector LCD. I have read that it's difficult, but is it possible?

Thanks! -Anthony
