Just got a DVD 3930CI and I'm back for some mods!

Hi,

So my Denon DVD 3930ci showed up today! It currently only reads DVD-audio discs. (I have ordered a new laser for it) I want to swap in some opa0627 into the audio output board. Has anyone on here modded this player? ANybody have a schematic for it? Any other hints?

Thanks

God bless...

There are a few (fairly extreme) examples on my blog. I'd not suggest putting my 'hexacap' arrays into your CD player though, probably there's insufficient space.

Rather than rolling opamps, start out by fitting TL431 shunts to each opamp, individually. Filter the shunt's output voltage with a 100uH inductor and a high value electrolytic (2,200uF say). Usually the power supplies to opamps are much higher than are needed to carry the signal - for example a CD/DVD player may have +/-15V rails but the peak signal is going to be only 3V or so. So set your shunts to give you +/-7V then you can use 10V rated caps on each rail with a fair safety margin. Use resistors to feed the shunts from the existing rails - allow 5mA for the shunt itself plus whatever the opamp itself needs.

Bias the opamp's output into classA with a resistor to the -7V rail, depending on what the opamp has to drive. If you don't know the load impedance (including the feedback resistor) then start with 6k8.
