Man, what a great looking new forum! I've been around for years but being somewhat sporadic in my posts, I figure an intro for the new forum is appropriate. I started fooling with lo-fi back in high school when a really cool system was KLH speakers powered by anything Dynaco. That would have been 1972. In college there was a big hi-fi enthusiast crowd. The well heeled had Marantz receivers. The rest of us built Dynaco, some Ace Audio or bought the big black Sansui receivers popular at the time. Except for the one guy with a Phase Linear 400 and stacked double Advents. Seriously loud! More time got me working in electronics and eventually designing scientific equipment. I scratch built some SWTP Tiger amps and started designing speakers. The first efforts were primitive, but eventually I got pretty good at it. I'm a test equipment junkie and my lab is well equipped to build and analyze just about anything except digital systems. These days I usually only get into posts about electronic fundamentals or test equipment. I'm also a pretty good machinist and am designing a new turntable and tone arm. It's one of those long term projects that may never get finished, but is lots of fun thinking about, drawing prints in CAD and doing the odd mechanical experiment to make sure the direction is right. I also do a bit of software and you can download my cartridge alignment template generator and strobe disk printer on my site-

I'm trying to learn a bit of keyboard and guitar, but have no musical talent whatsoever. Love to listen to almost anything from old Frankie Laine to metal to Nellie McKay. No opera, no rap and minimal country.
