Dillon Acoustics Metaphors. Very nice sounding. But I'm curious: have you compared the speakers you've built (kit or DIY) versus commercial speakers of similar size, design and driver compliment, i.e., "the competition" ? What were the results? I guess I'm wondering if the commercial guys still have the advantage by virtue of better resources, test equipment, etc.

(not that it really matters to me if I were to hear that the commercial guys are generally ahead of us on sound since you can't replicate the pride of ownership in being able to build something the way you want it as far as cabinet construction, internal components, minor tuning, etc.)

yes, I like to consider my Audax speakers, "my little 601s." My speakers sound incredibly better than any Polk or, Cerwin Vega, and some Paradigms...then again, speakers you build tend to grow on you anyway.
