Just a heads up on a sale at Future shop

I'm interested in building a projector with this to have some fun with, but from what I read it's pretty much unbearable. Anyone still use these? (I have a 14" lcd already but would like to play around with optics and stuff and figure this might be the best bet, any thoughts?) Thanks for the heads up.

Resolution?

If you don't go to large these might work. I was doing some preliminary testing with a 5.6" from a auto vcr combo unit and got a very nice picture at 3' diagonal. There was pixelization when I got it focused well, (not easy holding objective in hand). It may really be more a matter of taste.

This is an example taken with an old eyeQ camera. The top is with the lights on and the bottom with them off. Both had lots of light leaking from the test rig.

Well, I would really like to try this out, for the money it is worth at least a try. But apparently they don't ship to the US, and I'm hard pressed to find one down here. So unless I could maybe pay someone who lives in Canada a bit of money to order it then ship it on to me I think it's out.

Be pretty fun to add this next to a 15" or something to have a sort of picture in picture, except out of picture 🙂 setup. Just an idea.

By computer?

Maybe hanging off a copy holder on your computer as well. I've had tv tuner cards before and even though they say that you can shrink it down and continue with your work the overlayed picture always seems to be covering an important part of your menu bar.

True, thought I figured it would be better to go the hardware route, as I've never had too much luck with computers, and to watch things it would be nice to not have to turn on a computer. But that is always an option, probably work a bit better too.

If you guy's are really wanting one i could most likely ship one for you if you need. Future shop's only 5 mins down the street. And i already have an extra sitting here.😉

That would be awesome Clinton as I'd really like to try this out. At the least as a small projector to show music visualizations for parties and such. I'm still looking into other options, but if you could drop me an email at tj53 (at) cox dot net that would be great.

I just got one of these hip gear controllers from futureshop yesterday and as soon as i got home, ripped it apart and hacked into the wiring. hooked it up to my dvd player, and voila!!! a beautiful clear image!! all i need now is to find an old slide projector, but i do believe that my grandparents have one sitting in their basement!! time for some scrounging! Will post pics asap.!!!

Best thing is, is that it only cost me $21.43CAD for the whole projector!
