they last 750 hours 🙂
all MH lights dim about half their life or later in their life SOoo it would be at maximum brightness for 375 hrs 🙁
eh... it is not about the LCD monitor, but about "Da-lite is the best screen..." part. Just rediscovered a DIY screen link. I believe all long-time members knew about it, but it is nice to bring it up again: PLAS-TEX wall panel at avsforum
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
OK I have been wondering about the plastex myself how does it compare to say just regular semigloss wall paint( My current setup) I notice no hot spots But was just wondering if plastex would be all that much better?

don't know. It seems to be praised a lot at avs forum. maybe you can do the comparison for us 😀 buy one sheet from Lowes, and put it on can cover half of your screen, then see if there is any difference... If it is not better or even worse, you just return it. of course if you have a Lowes or Home Depot around.
Another nice thing about the Plas-tex is it can be cleaned by soap and water.

Da-Lite is sending me samples, I'll try parkland foamcore and paint too!
I will set up a camera on a tripod and do comparison shots on all the materials with windows open/closed/and lights on/off. Hope it'll help. My website will post preliminary pictures of my Home THeatre(my garage) in it's pre and mid clean up stages. I hope to finish clean up, begin painting next week, and laying tile shortly after that. I'll be setting up the ohp inside until the room is finished. Anybody have experience with acoustic tiles? Since the garage is concrete with tile floors, it'll need some kind of deadening I think.
Thanks,
Jarrett Towe

Hey JT you mean acustic cealings and wall tiles? Yea I know a bit about em, if your worried about echo though you can make your own outa foam batting and plywood and fabric etc. sounds like its gonna be cool.
Im going to photoshop up a concept photo over my terrible garage images. I fogged it last night. I think I got some cool paint (mustard like a little desert sandier though).
What is foam batting? I saw those tiles for 85$, 32 of them 12" x 12" x 1", and they look cool.
Suggestions? I am really wanting to make this cool. I am worried about having to have my elmo in the center of the room though. I hope I can back it up a bit. What is your setup? I am a noo-b to say the least.
THanks for the response,
Jarrett Towe
ps my site has new pics now too!

Give me a S give me a E give me a...........................SEARCH SEARCH SEARCH, what should ya do???????????? Search its been covered millions of times, you will be spending 300+ for the controller card so In short your better off getting a lcd monitor.

Ive got an idea,
SEARCH

To answer your aspersions,
a: The forum is hard for me to search to find the most chronologically accurate and up to date information. I am learning. If you dont have enough bandwidth to spare to my 1 line on the thread list, then why would you respond to it anyway?
b: I know controllers are expensive, but it has been said that the lcd mfgs are moving toward locating more and more electronics on the glass, thus hampering the transmissive capabilities. This means that in the long run, an controller may cost me 300$, but my screen cost me $5. That means screen number 2 would cost a small amount, thus lowering my per unit cost tremensously each time:i.e. lcd 1 cost $305, lcd 2 cost 5$=$305 for 2 = $152.50 each.
3rd lcd = $5, so 300+5+5=310, so cost is now $103 each. See what I mean? Eventually our pc lcds probably wont be much use anymore and I was hoping to have a future proof solution.
Sorry, I'll only post progress from now on.

Listen, I know you think its only one thread asking a simple question, but so does every other newbie on the forum, so eventually guess what happens... We get the forum how it is now... Jumbled with useless information and reposts. There is however tones of information in here about the stuff that you are looking for. Simply look harder. I know it takes time, but it is effective.
Please, do not stop posting about the stuff you buy. I love hearing about people’s progress. Just don’t start a new thread about it every time you buy a new gizmo, only to give us a vague description about what you got (like $5 tft screen? Any more info on that?). Post pics, specs, info, where you bought it, etc, and do not make a new thread every time. Make a thread called "jtbullet project update" and post your new buys/progress there. No one will be annoyed that way, and I’m willing to bet people would answer your questions about controllers and anything else you want to know, or at least point you in the right direction to a thread that has the answers you seek.

I also wanted to comment that your website is looking nice. Very simple and straight forward. Will be a good "newbie resource" for people just getting into diy and want to assemble an ohp setup. And yes, your ohp is kick ***!
