Don't worry, Syn08 knows already his way to the bin-pub, even though "BS" characterizes his opinion about what was said, but not about who said. 😎
Hi John,
Good to see you back to your thread. It's regrettably still a mess. as the natives have been very restless. It's almost like they lacked focus.

Hi Pavel,
Like, enough hasn't been done in this thread already? It seems like you are oversimplifying thing a bit too. The thing is, you really do know better than that. That was what we call a "cheap shot" in North America and I didn't expect that from you.Interesting enough, that some may repeatedly use a "BS" without any penalty. The other is binned for a "disrespect". Not sure about objectiveness here.

I suspect screaming into a cheap mic doesn't help. Just my way of welcoming JC back to the "pub". 🙂![]()
I don’t think it sound like solely microphone distortion.
Sound more like everything is clipping.
BTW: I would never use that mic on such a vocal performer.

John
I’m very sorry if you feel it that way, but I’m sure that everybody here welcomes you back, and that nobody here wanted you in the sin bin.
Cheers

Let me please respectfully disagree; I wanted John to be in the sin bin, but the same time I wanted him to come back! 😉

I can fully understand that sentiment John. I would feel the same if I had done time for the sins of others! (perhaps you initials are indicative!! 😉 😉

I understand that too; once I was banned from the forum where people concentrate on cloning of famous professional gear. I WAS BANNED because of the heresy: I used to write how that gear can be IMPROVED. I was very frustrated because I believed that I tried to help them, when actually got them confused each time I suggested something different from "the best". 😎

Ok
It should be "almost everybody"
I see that you wanted JC in the sin bin, but I can’t see why or for what reason.

I repeated many times: because for me it is a big difference between criticizing of technical ideas and discussing personalities of those who that ideas present. Especially, when personalities are discussed after it was especially asked many times to discuss ideas.
Edit: I respect John, as well as respect everyone on this forum, and I have nothing against disputing of my ideas and my solutions. But I don't like when personalities are used instead of arguments in technical discussions. However, you have your right to disagree...

Yes I agree in that one, but OTOH the Otala thread just became a mess, so his posts over there are not “the reason” for wanting him binned, or what?
Welcome back from "jail", john.
The last 15 posts really does seem like an oak ridge pub , complete with subjective " mine is bigger/longer" technical banter with a little "udder" BS.
On the subject of "good" or "bad" distortion , I often wonder whether many of us older "audiophiles" (yuck)
, are even qualified to comment. We can't even hear much above 16khz(definitively) . While letting a group of kids hear everything from 5hz - 45hz and the high end , 10khz - 18khz+ , I was amazed at their superior perception of the lows (they offered the opinion of where 21hz was a tone and not a woofer movement while it was NOT apparent to me ), and everything else audio .
At the high end ,I lost it at -17khz (at 45 years) , the 6-16 YO's could still perceive tone changes by the cent (17500 / 17600hz) , proving they still heard these frequencies as a tone , not a "presence".. like me. The adult's just reacted to anything over 15khz in a "it's there/no it's not" way , while the kids .. especially the younger ones , could hear a scale above 16khz.
So some of these subtle distortions that are (discussed) by the elders might not even be fully heard by our older ears anyway.
(the kids just "blow us away" as critics).
OS

Are you referring here to technical issues, or to ones' personality?

It seems to me that loosing sensitivity to the higher end of the audio spectrum has very little to do, if anything at all, with sound quality appreciation.

That's entirely accurate and absolutely normal. I live in a Toronto suburb division named Oak Ridges.

No, I am not referring to personalities, I am referring to what that personalities do. And I am answering the question when asked to.
Did I answer your question?
Now, please answer my question: did not you really understand, or used so called "cheap shot" against me?

It's in the eyes of the beholder.
