John, please let me express a view of a layman.
Audible differences between different cables is a fact, an empirical fact.
Whether science today knows all there is to know about all that impacts human listening experience – I believe no one would dare to answer.
As a layman (to science) and as a music lover – I don't really care about measurements – all I care about is my experience while listening to music – and in that experience, different cables do make a difference.

Yes, I know, some people may jump on the wagon, demanding scientific proof.
I will reply each and every one of them at the appropriate time.

I will dare to say that science does not know "all there is to know" about anything, but it doesn't claim to, and to be useful doesn't have to.

A lot of people have the same experience, and a lot don't.
 
I've been reading this thread for quite some time and given the fact that certain JFets are hard to come by, I have drawn an approach which has already been used successfully by others (which I give full credit). So the schematic shown consists of added ideas others also gave in this thread. For the sake of simplicity I have used regular resistor values with an altered approach to the servo configuration.

Your valuable comments, corrections, suggestions are very much welcomed, so that I and others may learn. After all it is all about sharing ideas whithout being cought up in vicious circles of vague statements or approaches. Thanks in advance!

If you are really interested to learn more, how it is possible that some people percieve cable differences and others not, look into perception. There's a whole new world out there to be discovered. A whole new world, concerning the difference between the air vibrations that impinge on your tympany, and the perception that shapes in your conciousness and that lets you say: I hear (or hear not) this and this. About the interactions of your senses, the interactions with previous experiences, with expectations, and many other factors.
You will no longer have to say you are a layman in these areas. You also will no longer listen to music the same way. Scary, but a positive choice if you are REALLY interested.

Double cascading of the JFETs degrades noise and distortion.

Having a servo is already assumed in JC's original idea.

Presented configuration are just JFets (BL-type) parallelled due to current and dissipation limitations. It is strange to assume how something sounds merely by simulating or a listening experience from someone else. Since you advocate and rely on YOUR listening skills, it is somewhat contradictional to your response on the presented schematic 😕

One thing is that you didn't parallel the JFETs, but double cascaded them. Cascoding them has no impact on neither current nor dissipation.

When I see a circuit that is both more complicated and by simulation of degraded performance, I will not go into the trouble of building it and listening to it.

I'm going to build an I/V stage based on JC's original idea.
You are welcome to build your circuit, no one is going to stop you.
However, if you claim that your circuit has any benefit over JC's basic idea – it is up to you to explain how your circuit improves performance.
