...I’m confident in what I’m doing, this wasn’t just a casual observation.

Confidence is a feeling, nothing more. It does not statistically correlate very well with being right, in humans anyway.

Thing is, if you listen to a device during the so-called break in period, there is no way to be sure how much breaking in of the device may be going and and how much breaking in of the human is going on to acclimate/normalize to the new sound. Only way to be sure would be allow the break in to take place without listening during that period. Maybe you could have someone else do it and tell you when it was done. Give it awhile longer, then maybe try listening. Any break in after that is probably not due to the device.

"Stone deaf" might be the usual exaggeration (the game is on on all sides 😉 ) , but it is known that the usual spread among the population to find for every human ability holds true for our hearing sense as well; surely there is a physiological based spread and further some based on knowledge/training effects.

I won't cite the experiments again, but in addtion to the published evidence we have found over the years in our test listeners nearly all thinkable combinations of ability and self confidence. I've said it before, among those were listeners with astonishing hearing abilities but combined with nearly zero interest in sound quality for reproduced music.

I think those are often referred to as 'wives' both jokingly and seriously. I do not know what advances have been made (if any) in last 10 years in mapping the differences in sound processing and acuity between men and women but what I read a while ago was very interesting, although in that case more driven by anthropologists who 'might' have been trying to fit results to a theory 🙂.

Oh and for Scott YouTube I rememberd the name of the German Woman and her Tantric husband. As I said before you need to get over the echo effects 🙂

Well I verified everything i concluded by doing it over and over again blindly landing in the same place, basically doing the exact opposite of how it’s ‘supposed’ to be done. Whittled it all down by ear......now granted I have very little technical training but I really don’t understand why people have such a hard time understanding the possibility that I (or others) have enough hands on knowledge and listening skill to make beneficial changes by ear?

You have homed in something that YOU like. That is all that really matters. I can't find the link but Floyd Toole has noted that, in his younger days he built a speaker (Karlsson design if I remember right) and thought that it was amazing until he learned more and discovered it was very bad.

You are happy, you are not claiming its better than my Apogees or JCs Wilsons or Richard's M2s. You are just claiming it hits the spot for you. Which is good and where we should be heading with this hobby.

All is good.

Now that’s a response worth reading 😉
