Umm, yes I get it.
In the past, I have presented stuff that seemed contrary to understanding.
He (correctly) questioned.
That is how it should be.
Now, Scott Wurcer.... He is another thing entirely...

Shape shifting lizard aliens here, nothing less.
1. twist pairs and live with it
2. STP connnected to pin one at one end and board at the other
3.STP connected to pin one at one end and capacitively coupled at the board. This reduced H-field screening but goes back to , if you have magnetic pickup inside the box you built you should fix that in other ways.
4. Another method.
I'd vote for number 3, but the board-end capacitor may not be desirable.
This should also be true for single-ended wiring (in a better world without "RCA" connectors it would be more obvious).
I hope you can keep a sense of humor and perspective about all this.
Sure.
I may not recognize all the jokes as jokes, something I find hard in print with dry humor.
But, I can tell some of the banter isn't too serious.
Try Rane’s notes on grounding cables, theres a solution in there

Really cool, I never would have tried that myself.
Was it a lubricated process or dry?
I ask because I have had to contend with copper that had been lubricated during forming, drawing, and machining. All three tend to force lubricant into any pores of the metal, then covered by subsequent working such that cleaning processes will not remove it all. The end result is a part that when soldered using non activated flux (R), the oils will evolve and cause the surface to passivate, destroying solderability. The LHC learned that the hard way, as their piece parts used for interconnects had roughly 90% dewetting when immersed into a solder pot with R type flux. Activated flux cannot be used because the zinc chloride breaks down to HCl in heat, that attacks all the stainless steel vacuum bellows (5 to 10 mils thick, .005-.010 inch) when carried in the helium stream.

It was dry. It was a long time ago and I was a kid so the details are a bit hazy, so I don't remember the initial diameter, if I had to guess I would say around 4mm, but that could be way off. I remember that he filed down one end a bit to get enough of it through the first chamfered hole so he could hold it with vice grips. After that it seemed like the steps were sufficiently close that it didn't require as much force to pull the wire through the steel plate. Needless to say I don't remember how many steps all together, nor the final diameter.
He often like to use two twisted pieces of wire on ring bezels, so after he had drawn the wire to the right size he doubled it, passing the looped part through a steel hook chucked in a hand drill (the old fashioned kind where you turn a crank). The two free ends were clamped in a vice grips that I held, while he was down that long hallway with the drill. While keeping tension on the wire he turned the drill, slowly advancing as the wire twisted and shortened. When he was done he had about ten feet of neatly twisted silver wire which he would coil and cut to length as needed. I wish I had some photos of some of his work from back then; he brought home ribbons every year from the annual juried exhibition of the Nova Scotia Mineral and Gem Society. The silver work was really just to mount and show the stones that he collected, cut, and polished (using machinery that he mostly built himself).
WRT repetition, the lack of repetitiveness in this track is punishing:

As for suspense, this guy has reached a fantastic fusion of chaos and repetition:

I didn't realize some of the things he does on that piano were even possible before I heard it. He pushes that one instrument's compositional value to the max with a controlled fusion of repetition and chaos. His music was lost on me at first but I liked it more every time I went back.
Sometimes I try to whistle along. Hard to keep up with.

Often I find indie music makers and wish they had access to better equipment and instruments. His Americana Dawn album would be incredible if played by an orchestra. He did make a version of it with traditional instruments, but I don't think it really did justice to the electronic version.
Try Brahms 🙂

But for cases where the board is not laid out with a ground plane and possibly doesn't destinguish between power ground and audio ground is there anything one could do given the options
1. twist pairs and live with it
2. STP connnected to pin one at one end and board at the other
3.STP connected to pin one at one end and capacitively coupled at the board. This reduced H-field screening but goes back to , if you have magnetic pickup inside the box you built you should fix that in other ways.
4. Another method.
I don't think option 2 is advisable if it could carry power ground. It would be interesting to test the options.
In that Rane note linked to, it mentions the possibility of the shield "spraying RF into the enclosure"

All this about imaging is very interesting.
I also think many of our so called experts
missed the boat (present company excluded).
Or maybe it was just me?
So how would this be applied in real life?
Kennedy was assassinated in 1963.
Many people at differen't locations around the
assassination said they heard the report of shots in various
locations, including the Govener then John Connely stating
the shots came form the front of the vehicle (along I35).
Other's on the grassy knoll said they came from behind them,
along the fence.
Fast Forward about a decade ago the last mic-ing of the area
was done with single mic's in various locations to preserve the
report environment.
What has never been done, and it may be too late now but
they should have stuck small condenser mics in the ears of dummys
and placed them at various locations through out the assassination area,
then perform shots from various places where people say they herd
shots from. Also take shots from known or assumed locations or
locations where shots were supposed to have come from.
Then using headphone amps and head phones, through the process
of elimination...have the original people select the sound they most
closely recall hearing and plot the result.
Gov. Connelly was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, surely he'd been
around guns fired near, far, front, and back of him; would he not know
where the sounds came from that day? He said from his front.
Finally, why not enable the citizens themselves to hear what it
sounded like that day, and what it might have sounded like
to the people who where there, using their ear positions,
and their location and the various locations of the presumed
shots?
We can get samples of the shots recreated but nothing that resembled
what the people might have actually heard with their own ears.
Imaging is it, and it's real.

Don't forget that aural memory is very short than that memory recall is always a read, modify, write operation. In addition, gunshot noises in locations with effective reflective surfaces aren't in the near field.

The real Scott, well... What presents here is an AI. Hadn't you noticed? Pay a bit of attention to his jealousy of AI automobiles.

You have passed the test successfully. You are not a robot.

Got me, I'm actually helping out a friend with a new startup. He wants to generate AI members of forums, chat boards, yelp reviewers, etc. and get them assimilated into the interwebs as real people. BTW he already knows how to find the button.
Jack Florey was a fake student that a group of students got admitted, through classes by taking exams, etc. I don't remember how far it got (long before my time).

Thanks Dimitri for your link. This is what keeps me hanging on here, despite the rest of it. '-)
So cool...
Just read an article on the alpha antimatter project at CERN on CNN. They are going to test if antimatter falls down or up in Gravity...
..
falls down
-RM
One would think so, right?falls down
-RM
However, the antimatter experts are not sure, hence Alpha three.
Alpha two was used for laser spectroscopy, anti hydrogen spectra is same as hydrogen.

How do they know the phase wasn't flipped. 😀
