Don't you think you will lose something "emotional", looking to a photographic reproduction of a Van Gogh painting ? And worse if the white balance is wrong ?Is a van Gogh more or less artistic depending on the frame? "That Rembrand would be a great picture if it wasn't for the frame" ?
Can't believe you agree with me😱 . Made my day John!
Me thinks he was being a little sarcastic. How about driving through the beautiful scenery with your Champagne cooler in the boot of your Maybach watching youtube videos with your favorite super-model. 😉
why would anyone wants to find out something? The clear creek does not support many fish, it is the muddy water that feeds the fisherman. 😉All these tests are generally designed to find out whether something sounds different from something else.
That is my point, how is finding out that there is a difference making things clearer?why would anyone wants to find out something? The clear creek does not support many fish, it is the muddy water that feeds the fisherman. 😉
Yes, it was MLCC X7R. MLCC does not automatically mean NPO/COG. Sorry for being sharp, but you were the second one after short time with the same suggestion.
Fair enough, evidently I got confused with the exchange and didn't see a clear resolution. My apologies.
I'm glad that you guys got that sorted out. PMA has properly shown the problem with ceramic caps is: That COG caps never are large enough to be effective coupling caps. ONLY hi Q ceramics like the 7 series has enough maximum capacitance to be useful for a coupling cap, AND they distort BADLY! If some of you idealists would just MEASURE hi Q ceramic caps aggressively, you would find what PMA has found.
That is my point, how is finding out that there is a difference making things clearer?
Who said it would make things clearer? It is not the goal. If you find out there is a difference, then that is what you now know. Keep it simple and straightforward.

Well there obviously is a limit; if you can no longer recognize the painting yeah then there is a problem with the 'reproduction' . If your clock radio is so bad you don't recognize the tune, there is a problem with the 'reproduction'. But that limit is farther than you think.

Not true hi-impedance FET circuits can do fine with nothing over 1000pF. 50Meg and 1000pF is a pretty low f and works just fine.

I don't think I would be overly concerned about that Youtube sound quality. Or the video quality, for that matter. I'd be wearing sunglasses anyway 😎

Then Jakob2 is right (I expect) ABX probably isn't an appropriate test.Who said it would make things clearer? It is not the goal. If you find out there is a difference, then that is what you now know. Keep it simple and straightforward.

Are you so sure to know what I think ? And to know where are those limits better than others ?But that limit is farther than you think.

I have a letter of excuses form my parents. Can you warn me, master, when the class is over? Please stay focussed.

Someone on another thread just made the point that an ABX test proves that we are not imagining a difference, so then we can move on to making a judgment about it
Afoot? Too much Sherlock bingeing on Netflix, ol' chap? You are suggesting I have a hidden agenda and you are infantalizing my knowledge of control theory. No need for that; shall we stick to the higher ground of engineering analysis?I gather from the other offhand comments about feedback, etc. there might be another agenda afoot. Please not the feedback goes round and round and can't stop what has gone before.
You have an equation in your data sheet that makes the effects of the output buffer completely vanish into thin air "by simple subtraction". Worthy of Blaine? My only agenda is to get to the bottom of that. Obviously the op-amp works fine; I have never used one but if JC applauds it then it must be exceedingly good. He's hard to please. 😉

The test can prove whether there is an audible difference. What's the bull about not imagining things?

No Supermodel but only time I have driven through Big Sur was to take my Fiancee to Laguna Beach to get married so the experience was somewhat altered compared to how it would otherwise have been. Not sure that is a drive I could ever replicate as an experience.
