You should have gone and done did it. 🙂 Jag with chevy V8 was very popular modification.... longer lasting, more reliable and powerful with the good looks of the Jag.
Obeying the speed laws is no problem.... but a lot of fun getting to the limit in 3 seconds flat and still in first gear... then you go to cruise mode.
But then, I did get a speeding ticket in Nevada a couple months ago... fortunately only 96 mph... at that spot in the middle of no- where a SUV was hiding behind a bill board - apparently road went thru some unposted indian reservation ... they made a lot of money on me for the tribe.

Fortunately you weren't in CA. 20+ over the limit can get you in the pokey.
There are many who use the highways to practice fir the videogames when they get home. i suppose its exhilrating to weave between cars travelling at 70 but the first miss (happens daily) is usually a really bad experience for all. I travel 70-90 miles almost daily in heavy traffic. I don't want a supercar to wear out and blow lots of gas money on for that. I had Lotus and Ferraris when I was young. great to drive. APITA if you need to get somewhere. Dropping the engine of the Dino to change the plus was the end of that experience. The Lotus 7 was great to maintain but not fun in stop and go traffic. I put the money into real estate today.
The Jag I had was the only used car I made money on and a good example of how ego gets wond up in cars. It was a 3.8 sedan that needed a head job and paint. I taught myself how to do the head work and got a silver and black 2 tone paint on it and sold it for $2K more than it cost me. This was in the late 1970's.
On my travels today I saw two rusted out 70's musclecar shells on trailers headed to restoration. Since they now fetch absurd prices (Auction results and data for 1970 Chevrolet Camaro Series - conceptcarz.com ) we will see more resurrections of death traps on wheels.
WoW. Sorry Demian you cant have a fun car any more because of the dense traffic situation you live in. That's not my situation though... a winding hwy 49 to the nearest town for goods. A fun road if you like to drive well handling cars.
BTW - the 20+ law is in affect now in Nevada also. But they never take you in for speeding. just write it up... often for lower speed so they don't have to be bothered with bring you in to police station etc etc ... a lot more paper work and time spent off the job.... and miss out on making more money from other speeders they could have caught. Even in my neck of the woods.... A CHP clocked me at 90 on my little country 2 lane road. Same thing... just write you up. So, Demian, the real world isn't always about how laws are written but how they are used or not.

Interesting art....... ADC's We can break down a musical transient into sine wave components for analysis etc.... but that is not what the wave form IS. Music is often transient or pulse like etc.
We want it to look (and sound) like the original waveform... But often it doesn't....

Of course bringing in Granpa on a reckless driving charge would have consequences.
For the commute I drive a gen 1 insight. Its like driving a sprite that doesn't break. Lots more fun than it should be.

You're a grandpa? But they don't bring in grandpa's so you have nothing to worry about. They will help you to your wheel chair though and hand you your cain. . And talk real loud to give you a stern warning.
What's an insight?

It’s only the steep filter employed that causes the ringing (Gibb’s effect).
With at least 4x oversampling digital filter, the cut-off frequency is way above the audio frequencies, how can be an issue with audio waveforms? The link makes it clear.

yes, I was wondering... didn't get back in time to edit..... if the original 16b/44.1 was not able to capture transient well enough to not have audible consequences. Era prior to over-sampling? Originally, when CD first came out (1982) and got such a bad response from critical listeners. Wasn't that uproar the driving force to use over-sampling?

Same in MA and VT. I've seen some put in cuffs and their car impounded for only the speeding violation. Though in one case it was easily +40.
It seems to make a difference if there was other traffic around during your speeding. I never speed in traffic. In Nevada, I could see from horizon to horizon... no cars anywhere... and then blam! I get radar zapped by this tribal cop from under a rock somewhere. I just pulled over and got all my docs ready and handed them to him as he came to the window... like I've been thru this before. But, then we had a nice chat about the car and he drove one once and scared everyone on the road with it... he said with a smile. So, we just chit-chat awhile and I'm off again. He liked cars designed to go fast. but he still gave me the ticket.
But then I have been followed by CHP just because the car was a rare and very modified fast ZR1 but going the speed limit. Pulled over to check the license/registration and if I was possibly the owner in my ragged cloths. Car not stolen... off I go.
But then I have been well over the speed limit and find a CHP cruising right along side of me..... I slow down, he leaves me alone.... maybe it was the Bentley, and didn't want to risk his career, I dont know. I never got speeding breaks before.
Or maybe they just dont cuff grandpa's. When I was young, I was pulled over for +5 mph in my hot rod '57 and fined and threatened with jail time. On the other hand, my wife speeds every where and drives like a maniac in her PT Cruiser and has never got a ticket. totally ignored. Think some profiling is going on?

The first sweetvinyl RT declicking boxes have been delivered and reading the first review so far is positive. Surely this is a concept worthy of high end treatment?

Hard to tell. The Philips engineers were forced to invent the oversampling technique (according to Philips history books) as they had originally intended to introduce the CD as a 14 Bit System and therefore only developed a 14 Bit DAC.
Sony insisted to use a 16 Bit and refused to wait. Development and production of the Philips digital filter was apparently easier and faster than development of a new 16 bit DAC design.
As it worked i suppose it was a mix of various factors, higher numbers (means more bits and higher frequency) are better arguments for marketing, digital filters were less costly than the high order elliptical analog filters.
And if at the end some people were pleased with better sound quality it would not harm..... 🙂
My tip of the day, always were at least a tie and jacket for official identification pictures. The only time some one looks at it, the image implies you might just be important.
Once I got pulled over in Ohio. Behind my liscense was business card with the top clearly visible. What showed said "Mayor of Cleveland." Got a warning.
The one time I actually got a ticket, it was for doing 67 in a 35 zone. I showed up with a satellite photo and calipers. I showed the distance from the traffic light to the speed stripes. The specifications for my car showed I could not have reached that speed in the distance involved. The officer reviewed the ticket and recognized he had set the baseline distance wrong. Ticket dismissed.

In California, the CHP give close family members little gold stars to stick on their drivers licences. Prior to using the gold stars they used special license plate frames. A gold star or the right license plate frame along with a good story of who provided them generally results in the granting of "courtesy."
That means a warning is given instead of a ticket, which is the prerogative of the police in all cases of infraction violations.
Misdemeanor and felony violations are not eligible for courtesy warnings in California.
I have been told officers are normally trained to decide whether they will give a warning or a ticket before talking to the driver. However, sometimes they decide what to do later in a particular encounter.

My dear sweet old mom, bless her heart, liked to drive with a bit of a lead foot. She was also a church organist. The one time she was ever pulled over for speeding, the cop turned out to be a kid for whose wedding she had recently played. No ticket. 🙄

So you drive a Bently and the wife gets a PT Poop Cruiser? 🙄 must be love.

You might assume.... The Bentley belongs to her and I get to drive it once in awhile and pay for maintenance. Lucky me.
She drives her little PT most of the time. She can trash it without much worry.... cost more to fix a scratch than replace the PT.

Of course, who wants to go shopping with a Bentley? Jack used to leave his at home as well, and use a more 'cost effective' car. That same thing happened to me recently with a fellow engineer who owns a Porsche Boxster and wanted to drive up to Berkeley to see me. He drove a old BMW instead, telling me that he worries about parking his Porsche in Berkeley. Heck I wanted a ride in a better sports car than I have! My long lost 'dream car'. Oh well.

Some Motorcycle journalists got pulled for a speeding ticket saying they were doing 46-47 in a 30mph zone, even with a MIRA certificate showing that exact moped could only do 40-41 on a racetrack with a light driver and the judge almost gave it to the police, didnt want to believe them...

Going shopping is the perhaps the very thing a Bentley is designed for. I see them at the local mall here all the time. They certainly aren't true driver's cars or track day weapons, despite whatever ludicrous versions of the Continental GT they dream up.
