just 'Sin Binned'?
Was there a specific incident for which Waly was binned?

I assume, neglecting that this BBS is a commercial operation and needs protected zones for the sellers of hi-end snake oil and myth builders. OTOH I see that one of the few high quality threads like "Scotts take on a G=1000...." is moved to group buys because s.o. proposes to make a board to test something out.
Maybe the few science/technology oriented of us should pack their things and move to a location that can even be cited without fear for one's technical reputation.
We can easily sit out a nation-wide philosopher's strike.

I would have hoped that there was a bit more concern for those on the end of Mr. W's incessant stream of vitriol, insults, denegration and downright obtuseness.
As I was beginning to suspect, some are golden.
I am outta here. Permanently.
Good day to you.

Three fellows are walking down the street, one of them says 42 and they all laugh. Another says 16, again they all laugh. The third fellow says 22 again followed by laughter.
A bystander inquires what is so funny about just these numbers. One of them explains that they have known each other for so long, they assigned their jokes and funny stories numbers.
The bystander asks if he can try it. They agree. He says 19. No one laughs. He asks why. The trio explains "Well it is the way you tell it isn't funny."
Or Waly, often right, just didn't know how to say (write) things.
( I remember his "resistors don't distort" and that it was impossible for my bedroom to be quieter than a recording studio both rudely expounded.)
Other college student observation of a basketball team at a southern university going to a fund raising dinner pushing other folks including women aside to get into the elevator. They may be good at basketball, but they failed basic manners.
Then in high school there was the fellow student expound a bit of his philosophy and getting the words castigated confused with castrated. Very darkly funny.
Waly was sin binned, not banned. His wit and wisdom are still intact.

Andrew, I was just wondering about the bin reason for W. I am well aware of his abrasive manners and if he is binned for accumulated 'points', fine with me, not my call anyway.
Anyway, hope you don't let yourself be chased off by a random bully. We need you here!

I hope we can go forward and discuss more constructive things, even if they are sometimes controversial.
So what's the simplest opamp circuit that can switch from mm to mc cartridge that works well without going full on Blowtorch? How simply today can you do an RIAA correct phono input with phono pre included?

19!

A question like that deserves an answer like this: Use Douglas Self SSAD2ed Figure 12.5 for the moving coil headamp (3 x 2N4403 input stage, NE5532 amp, TL072 servo), and then use Douglas Self SSAD2ed Figure 8.3 for the MM+RIAA (Noninverting opamp, single stage). Done.

Agreed. Waly is a smart guy, very knowledgeable, and at his best is a valuable asset to the forum. At his worst, some moderation was needed. Hopefully, a little chastisement will have a positive effect in the long run.
Also, hope Bonsai changes his mind. Don't let one bully and the few people he was polite to chase you away.
If somebody is being rude and offensive expressing what he read in books and articles offending others, he need some time to think. No doubt, he appears to be knowledgeable to amateurs when attacks from behind the screen people like SW. But we are not coming here to fight.
KInd of reminds me of The Don (Trump)...maybe smart in one area but he is trashing the place he lives in and depends on. Self defeating. He too needs to go.
I certainly have been trashed here and it isn't just because I don't know or care about the detailed physics of devices and becoming a SIM Master. It is because I, like John Curl, also listen to help point me in the direction of better/accurate audio performance. After that, all is snake oil to W and others. JC has hung in here a very long time and I have also. But some people need to be banned for life... they wont/cant change.

Well if you want to ban all those who will/can not change the place will be empty in a hurry 😉

Yes, we need an audio bootcamp! 🙄

Thing is John, you've had your contructive post of the year so I'm not holding out much hope of anything but Bybees until the spring...I hope we can go forward and discuss more constructive things, even if they are sometimes controversial.
Odd as someone else on here reminds me more of Trump.KInd of reminds me of The Don (Trump)...maybe smart in one area but he is trashing the place he lives in and depends on.
But Bullc**p is still Bullc**p and should be called out. Anyway, as you haven't reported on bypassing your benchmark and going digital into your Crown amps I have to conclude better audio performance isn't your real agenda...It is because I, like John Curl, also listen to help point me in the direction of better/accurate audio performance. After that, all is snake oil to W and others. JC has hung in here a very long time and I have also. But some people need to be banned for life... they wont/cant change.

It is already, with sergeants who can jail offenders. 😀
Thank you Scott, I figured it would have contained one of your circuit designs but if you say D. Self so be it, I listen when you speak. 👍
