Thanks guys for the tyre inputs. We could argue all day about whether wider tyres have real cornering advantages, but we can just drive on them to learn for ourselves, or rely perhaps on F1 race car measurements. Or perhaps, (gasp) rely on driver's testimonials! '-)

I love mechanical things as well. Esp high performance ones.... like cars. In Jan I picked up a 2017 CTS-V. An awesome beast of a car in every way. (Yes, i still have W12 TT Bentley]
But I like fine art also. My interests and curiosity just automatically gravitate to the finer things in any category.

Because, it's all good IMO. .

Gosh, not this again how tiresome. You have me at a disadvantage, I consider braggadocio rude and impolite only serving to make others feel bad so I will not participate.

My interests and curiosity just automatically gravitate to the finer things in any category.

Tried the boat noodles yet?

Scott,

I think your conclussion is finally correct.

As to smoke detectors, in normal use they are harmless. In some misuse they can be fatal, but I don't want to get into that.

As to the recognized properties of air, the first time I measured them it became apparent some textbook charts were dry lab'd.

Treating wind issues is one of my design secrets. It can be done and most designers of large scale systems get it all wrong!

One of the magic sound treatments is based on Bessel functions and those systems work until someone clueless fixes the miswired loudspeakers. So my current technique does the function in obscure places of DSP.

To whom? You, speaking for everyone, again? Sorry if you feel bad for my having such an expensive hobby interest.

A lot of people have interests and hobbies beyond analog circuit design. Audio/music can be just as expensive as cars.

Boat noodles? yes. I have a retirement visa for Thailand now.... eat out frequently. Tried their fried worms? Yes.

Finally got my Sony HAP-Z1 installed and copying music into it.

Actually I second Scott. You have loads of disposable income. Good on you. We know. No need to keep rubbing it in!

OK. so there are others who do not appreciate fine things that they cannot afford.

If I owned Dave Wilson's top model... should I never say so? Sorry guys. I would. I think it matters if you listen... what you listen with. Your opinion depends on the quality of what your system you listen to is comprised of. It does matter, if you listen to an iPOD for your music opinion or a big rig system of top quality. So, I say what I have. If you are more cost/price challenged than I am, there are many ways to make your system better at low cost. I have been there and done that, also. The main reason I have more disposable income is that I am retired and I have paid off my house. Not paying a mortgage/rent frees up a lot of money per month/year to spend on the better things.

Except I can afford them all, but have the circumspect knowledge that he price has little relationship to their long term cultural value. BTW a 2.5% mortgage vs 6% investment income is a no brainer, paying off the mortgage is a big loser. I hope no one listens to your financial advice without consulting a professional.

More folks than you think. If I told you how much I cleared when I divested all my real estate investments when I retired you would not think I feel "bad".

I don't care how much you made. But you could tell me you bought a nice car or stereo component or anything and I would NOT feel bad or jealous if it was more than I could afford.... Because I appreciate those fine things.... and would probably ask you questions about it.

Hi John,
Thanks Anatech for your offer. We have done this before, and it did not work out.
Actually, we haven't to the best of my knowledge. I wasn't going to test anything at all.* This would have been a test firmly entrenched in your methods. Sighted listening tests with a promise from me to report honestly right here. There wouldn't be any cost for anyone except possibly a dealer if we had to open a package. I suspect that Jack would happily replace any packing materials for the testing. No one is buying anything, so the only real outcome is a chance to have more marketing material. I would have zero reason to report any outcome dishonestly. The participants would all be adults who are used to disagreeing with each other.

My offer stands in case you reconsider. The dealer I know is well known to most folks and all we need is for Jack (or someone who can) allow the dealer to release this product for testing. Since I use him for some parts, I'm not motivated to steal any product, or misuse it. Everything would be returned in the condition we received it in if at all possible. Valuable information for very, very little outlay from anyone.

What's there not to like?

-Chris
Edit:
* on my test bench. Nothing but listening tests

Now I must find out what a CTS-V auto is! Thanks Richard for your input. Remember, many of our critics think nothing about drinking an expensive bottle of wine or have a fine dinner with their extra cash. It's just what they have tried that they feel worth the expense. Why they want to discourage you or me from talking about these things does little to help things along.
As far as Dave Wilson's top model WAMM, I just hope that one day I can hear it. 30 years ago, I listened to Daves's WAMM (at the time) and have never forgotten the experience. Now, I am listening to my $30,000 DW Sasha speakers and they are 'overkill' for listening to some physicist lecture on the nature of the universe, so I will soon revert to my usual speakers for news and discussion, Sequerra Met-7's, something that Scott can appreciate. '-) However, the previous program had many acoustical string instruments in it, AND the Sasha speakers clearly sounded better than the Met 7's with the same program material. That is the difference.
