Where I work it is rich with older folks, the backbone of the company in many ways.
Also makes me feel younger at nearly 50🙂
Isn't FM quality dependent on the power that it is being broadcast?
I used to draw in a college station from 40 miles away that would typically fade after just 10 miles, using a carefully aimed antenna up on a power pole, lived on top of a hill.

Our college stations have gleefully used listener donations to "upgrade" their equipment to the latest SS poop (don't get me wrong it's not the SS but the sonic/modulation trade-offs that are just blindly accepted as the way to do it). To add insult to injury the DJ's compose their shows on their iPODs.

Before or after the sqwuigilum?
Do I look like Margaret Dumont?
Wait, don't answer that.
No, but do you play ping-pong?
Bean-bag, it's very good. Becomes very exciting at times. I saw the championship played in Paris; many people were killed.
I can get three AM transmissions of the same midday news service.I don't know what they are exactly doing at each stations (may differ country by country as well) but in any period I always found that there is 1 station (out of probably 20 that is in-range) that differs from other stations...
It's not about noise, but almost all are unlistenable, except for this one (and I don't think general ears will hear the differences). I think it cannot be MP3 either.
All sound subtly different.
Different signal paths/transmitters/processor settings.
It would be odd if they sounded identical.
Same with networked FM.
Dan.
Haha.Well, to stir up even more controversy, Jack Bybee just sent me samples of his latest product.
Wait till I spill the beans on what I am up to, lol.
Jazz at the pawn shop in 3d surround out of two speakers with clarity, real dynamics, pinspot sharp image positioning and focus and stability anyone ?.
Oh, and all of that out of any old consumer system, hi-end goes to another level.
It's all about getting phase noise out of the system.
Dan.
life imitates art.
I would have done the mother frontways, backways, sideways, and then I'd be in for a threesome.
(Soy Capitan, ya arriba y arriba. Basta ya !)
I thought that was kumquats?
I’ve got a piece of chalk. Do you want to play hopscotch?
Haha.
Wait till I spill the beans on what I am up to, lol.
.
Ah another teaser. Must be the 20th now. how soon till this sees the light of day? I for one am intrigued.

Hi Max, you reminded me that you are especially interested in Bybee devices. I have them all over my hi fi system(s), but this is an accumulation of years of knowing Jack, and not my aggressive need to try them.
When I first met Jack, over 20 years ago, I had already made my first subjective evaluation of them, and with STAX electrostatic headphones, I was very surprised. YET, I could not measure anything much except about 2 ohms (at the time, and this has dropped to .025 ohms in later stuff). I had at the time in 1995, a tweaked ST1700 with an added HP spectrum analyzer to evaluate and remove the self noise from the system. It just didn't measure anything much, so I knew that I had to improve my test equipment, as well as looking for some other measurement than S/N or distortion to get any real results. Jack had some measurements made at AMES (Moffett Field) with a special line noise analyzer, and I have put them up here, to no avail, but that is pretty much all there is, except for Ed Simon's efforts in this area.
Ed has turned me on to a better method of detecting something (except for my ears of course) and I hope to try it in future, as I have somewhat better test equipment (SR-1) and it might show something that others cannot so easily scoff at. In any case, keep on truckin!

I just can't imagine selling my integrity and reputation so cheaply, even for the sake of a business partner.

SE,
How did the Kickstarter campaign work out?
It didn't. We really should have been promoting it several months before launching the Kickstarter campaign. But because I wasted over three months finding someone to build the wood cabinet (had to go through three other clowns before finding J&F) I didn't have that luxury. So we went into the Kickstarter campaign from a cold start.
However several friends are pitching in and I'm doing an updated version of a headphone amp I had developed but didn't put into production. In hindsight this is what I should have done first instead of the console. Oh well. Better late than never.
