And Freeman Dyson proposed nuke-propulsion as well. I believe he is a bit embarrassed about that now.
There was a lot of serious discussion about peaceful uses for nuclear explosives.

yes. Good memory.
And there was a nuclear powered ram jet engine developed.... too radio active at that time for commercial use but deep space? What was its name? [Pluto]
Back at 1962-ish Mach 3.5 cruise missile was planned using a nuclear ram jet engine. What might such a cleaner device be capable of today?

Isn't that what Voyager's engine is? (Nuclear engine, obviously not ramjet, not sure how that'd help)
Or are you thinking this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bussard_ramjet
Voyager had normal hydrazine propellant, but did have a thermal generator driven by a radioactive isotope.

Ah, right. I misremembered.

Why would cleaner matter? Do you know what after burners are? Speed isn't about efficiency of fuel... at least not in our atmosphere.

Nothing nuclear in the propulsion here.
There is nothing ‘technical’ related to audio in these deviating posts lately.
Many show ignorance of the issues they suppose to ‘discuss’ and many more are in violation of some forum rules.
Please, fasten your seat belts and prepare for re entry into the boombox atmosphere.

We could always dust off why people don't use active speakers more when there is so much in their favour.
Yeah, trick interconnects and trick AC cords have more effect. We could always dust off why people don't use active speakers more when there is so much in their favour.

Whilst some of the discussion may be interesting it is not appropriate on this site.

You should leave those posts because they are interesting.....military depends on electronics afterall. All posts of a political/Military nature have been removed. I strongly suggest everyone stay away from this topic as George has so eloquently suggested.

We will be good and not bring up these subjects up in future, promise.

Dan , there are rules and there are hard rules.
Besides, rest assure that development of military warfare is most certainly not depended on our ramblings here. 😉
Well, we all have heard that reentry of a vessel into the atmosphere is followed by strong shock and temperature elevation.
Tony provided the much needed shock and I think I have to cater for the temperature rise.
I would rephrase what Mr. Curl wrote here (and no one picked on):
Tubes overload, transistors clip! Is there one that is really superior over the other?
This is the proposed version:
(Tube or SS) non-Global Negative FeedBack multistage designs overload, GNFB multistage designs clip. Is there one that is really superior over the other?
Temperature now is 21.5d Celsius. Let’s see.
George
You bring up a good point. Of course with a modern digital rig its very easy to set things up such that you cannot clip the amplifier. This would seem to be a goodthing(tm)?
It is a very good thing © 😀This would seem to be a goodthing(tm)?
With digital signal, the 0dB FS is well defined.
Deciding on some fixed headroom btn the digital source and the DAC input, the DAC output can have a fixed and stable maximum output level in one’s audio system.
