Tsk, John - a mere 30,000W back then. For a bit more of a technical breakdown there's this: Speaker science: Despacio engineer John Klett explains James Murphy and 2ManyDJs’ vinyl-only soundsystem – The Vinyl Factory.
Interesting that they're using those amps with output transformers - McIntosh is really onto something... Are they the only company making SS amps with output trafos?
The only thing that Mac did 'better' was to use the autoformers for the solid state outputs.
We should ask why they did that. RR has quite an interesting blog on the mac stuff here http://www.roger-russell.com/

It is easy to understand. They made an amp that operated best into a low impedance, such as 2 1/2 ohms which allowed maximum usage of the safe area of the output transistors of the day. Then the output could match almost any defined impedance that was typically used at that time.
Given the wide range of very talented individuals perusing and participating in this thread, is this a question you really want an answer to??Would some of you critics please tell us what you have done lately to change the world?
Wonderful Where's the sweetspot? How does it image.😉My reference LOUD hi fi system:

Just for you, use them as headphones! 🙂
The vocal track is MONO.
You meter readers crack me up. You think that you can simply use power output and distortion numbers to determine how well a sound system is going to play.
I've news for you. Distortion numbers are only part of the answer. Subtle audio clues that can't be measured are far more important to the high end audiophiles than a simple number. Unless you have an extremely resolving system, you will miss out on real music reproduction.
he he...how'd I do?
Mono is just fine for a PA system such as the wall. But it's obviously not a reference system.
Hope you had a good holiday John...

Let's hear it from everybody! What have YOU done lately?
I made a poo-poo this morning. Does that count?

I don't agree with that in principle. It is possible that they are not being
measured, and also possible that we are failing to interpret the measurements
we have.
😎
I have a suspicion that you don't actually work for a living.
I spend my days reminiscing about my life in the adult film industry, where I brought joy and satisfaction to millions of lonely men.

I think John had his Sarcastic Suit on.
