Yecccchhhhh! Sounds like it's being played through the cheap speaker in an iPad.
Oh, wait...

Sorry to say this but MBL is just crap. Its a product like the hasselblad lunar. Get a real Hasselblad or a real preamp instead.
I see the cages are rattling, the Boulder too? "Just crap", cool.

I have a friend who buys cartridges based on their resitance to being under water.

He wants cartridges that are hydrophobic?

A lot of them rust after playing LP's "with a good bow wave".
a.wayne, this is the other side of the JC-1 story, and why we were able to make award winning products after 2000. This was a fax from me to Richard (the guy in the JC-1 discourse), in the year 2000.
Thanks for fhe insight John....
You must have super sensitive hearing to hear the F1 race!😀
Yes , i "heard " ...... 😛
Here ya go, MBL pre + power amp, with Avantgarde horns.

($3.3M, you get the 40 knot 112ft yacht for free)
Are those horns bolted to the floor? If not, they might hurt someone when flying around in a bit of a steep chop 😀
As regards MBL, I heard a setup of units lower in the hierachy, just small versions of the melons, at the recent show. Very ordinary sound, nothing to recommend it ...
to the contray I've heard several versions of MBL systems ranging from small 2 way to larger stand and floor mounting 3 way melons driven by various MBL amps and preamps and found them to be some of the nicest systems I've heard under show limitations.
Thier system at Montreal's Son y Image show last year with copies of master tapes from Abbey Road studios was one of the most transparent, dynamic, non fatiguing exhibits I 've heard. Listening to Zepplin II, Talking Heads, Bruce Springstein uncompressed master tape dubs made a number of us realize how we'd listened to crap 4 or 5 th generation compresssed, poorly mastered transfers all our lives......

So how much was that due to the quality, and nature, of the source, 🙂 ?
I was using an excellent live recording CD of a local R&B band to demo, and the show setup I heard was losing far too much of the sound ...

When someone says that he has a 'copies of master tapes from Abbey Road' I take such statements with a big grain of salt.
Mmmmmmm.... Chooooocolate....
Oh it's a sad, sad day.
First I hear that MBL and Boulder have eight legs and then I read this quote
from Mark Levinson:
"Steve Eddy is a psychologically ill man who needs professional help. Steve
Eddy is not his real name. He is facing legal action for his illegal activities
that include extortion, harrassment and defamation of character."
What has this world come to? I am shocked! Shocked, I say!
😎

I heard a master tape some years ago. There was a slight tick about every
two seconds.
What a world, what a world.....

Hello Joachim, it has been a long time since I had contact with you. I got some new test equipment, about 20 or more dB better than what I had before. Contact me privately if you are interested.

Epilog:
Where there's light, there's a crack and a tick every 2 seconds ...

Thanks for that, Nelson. I see that post was written just this past January, nearly three years after I'd last posted in the comments there. Could have been written by anyone of course but I'm going to have it looked into.
