JLCPCB aternative for mixed tht/smd workload with v-scores

Hello Folks,

I've put a bunch of effort into designing a workload of small PCBs on a 100x100mm board. Some of the small boards contain SMD and THT components, the individual boards are separated by v-scores to easily separate them after manufacturing. I have seen such board workloads in the LT4320 thread, so technically that should work and so far the theory...

A few moments ago I chatted with JLCPCB to verify the right way of ordering my workload. It turns out that JLCPCB cannot (anymore?) produce v-scored PCB workloads containing THT and SMD component layouts.

I'm not experienced in PCB manufacture, this is my first project, so who ever can help, please advise!

Thanks and Regards,
Winfried

It seems that I've got something basic terribly wrong. The JLCPCB support sent me an eMail saying:

...Yes, ..., we don't support THT for SMT Assembly, THT means assemble through-hole parts, but it beyond our capability and we can't do it.
Through the picture you attached in last email, it seems you need PTHPlated through holesrather than THT, if you need PTH then we could make it...
I derive from the text, that THT ist "through hole technology" for paarts assembly and PTH is "plated through hole" technology which enables the assembly of through hole parts.

The latter is what I seem to need, because I just want bare PCBs with SMD and holes. So, actually, this may tun out to have been a combination of the support person not understanding that I want bare PCBs and me not knowing that I should be referring to my need as PTH.

Maybe someone more knowledgable than myself can confirm the finding?

@knauf1919: It seems like I did not make myself clear enough asking my question... Thanks for trying an answer anyway!

Thanks and Regards,
Winfried

If you just want bare PCBs then there is no problem. JLC thought you wanted them to do assembly using through hole parts. All you needed to ask them was can they do v score, what parts will go on the board is irrelevant. When you order the board, choose plated through holes, assuming the layout is double sided.

Thanks Richie,

this is reassuring! My board is double sided and with all holes front/back contacted.

So, I'll go ahead, I know JLCPCB can do PTH (have such boards from them in front of me which I bought in a diyaudio group buy).

Best Regards,
Winfried
