JL e1400D with fried IRFZ44N FETs

Hello everyone.

First of, great deal of info here at the site. Thanks all for making it possible.

I just got a used boat with 2 JL amps, one of which is the e1400D. It powers on, but plays with very low - unclean power. I searched and read up some related posts to get some general knowledge, then opened the case up and inspected.

3 of the FETs (Q51, 53, 61) are fried. Everything else looks great so far.

Where do I find these locally (I'm in Hayward CA) or online? I see lots of them on Amazon.com but not sure if one is different from others. Should I get the same part number or upgrade?

Have a look to digikey and mouser, usually they do not sell fakes.
In any case be prepared for further hidden defects of the amp, which can give you headache during repair.

At my local Radio Shack store, there are a couple of models. Can I try use any of them?

IRF510, TIP3055, TIP31, & TIP42
