What always amazed me was how one great song early in a career (which is admittedly hard to achieve) can propel someone to the fame and fortune he had. There are many good songs from one hit wonder bands, but this one was so good and the follow up also, that led to so much more. Maybe it is simply how so many identified with it...

Jimmy Buffett was a very, very avid collector of antique radios -- he would pile them onto the luggage when getting into his charter. When he was out on the road he would visit thrift shops etc and scour for old tube radios. He would also spend a lot of time talking with the audio guys who were setting up his gigs.

Cheeseburgers and Margaritas are the theme of the day. Just pulled out and dusted off the Frozen Concoction Maker. Off to the store in a bit to gather all the necessary ingredients. I’m a little out of practice, but I’m sure it will come back rather quickly.

I‘m heading to Margaritaville today boys.

Gotta send the old man home in style.

Listen to the song.

Margaritaville was not a nice place to be.

Just sayin'

Later of course, the cheeseburgers.

I like mine with lettuce and tomatoes
Heinx 57 and french fried potatoes
I big Kosher picker and a cold draught beer
Good gawd almighty which way do I steer
For my Cheeseburger in Paradise

Cheeseburger in paradise
Medium rare with Muenster'd be nice
Heaven on earth with an onion slice
Mmm... just a cheeseburger in paradise

Double Double, protein style, grilled onions, raw onions, mustard grilled.

Remember, I live in Paradi$e....

Did you really put hot dogs into the burgers? Yikes.

skfisher, you are missing so much of the picture.
What I meant to say was that so much of the picture is missing in your statement. Not your lack of knowledge.

Back in May when he went for a check up in Boston and the Dr. said whoa boy! You're staying with us for a bit. You had to know there was something more a paper cut.
Did you really put hot dogs into the burgers? Yikes.
Growing up we referred to that as a rodeo burger. The burgers were of course made with horse meat and the wiener was the saddle on top.

Was introduced to Jimmy in the summer of 1974.
While the other kids were listening to songs like:
The Night Chicago Died
Band on the Run
Locomotion
Seasons in the Sun
My cousins introduced me to:
Come Monday
Christmas of 1978 my brother got the album
You Had To Be There
I was hooked. It was the start of my journey.

Jimmy is so much more than a musician
Jimmy is a lifestyle
I could only ever wish
Margaritaville was not a nice place to be.

To say Margaritaville is not a nice place to be means you are many species removed from a Parrothead.
I feel for you.
