Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the Jensen Copper Foil PIO caps in the aluminum colored housing vs the gold colored housing?
I just recieved a couple of 2.2uf 630V Jensen Copper Foil PIO caps that I bought on epay and instead of the gold colored housing they are aluminum (they are a bit larger than I expected as well). I am using these as coupling caps to my self modded SI.
Thanks,
Ed

Thanks for the reply Tom.
I understand that these are not polarized however they are marked by a line on one end that I believe represents the connection to the outermost end of the foil. Is there a preferred connection when used as a coupling capacitor ? Should the outermost foil be connected to the RCA input or visa versa, does it matter at all?
Thanks again,
Ed

The outer foil typically is placed at the source end in coupling applications. I've not experimented with outer foil placement so can't further comment.
