Jeff Rowland 301

Hello
I have a pair off Jeff Rowland 301 mono amps here. Both are killed by a lot off water . Some boards are burned. It was the first generation with the big transformer inside. I cleaned the chassis and want to rebuild the amps . I think it is easier to build with the newer version ICEpower1000ASP modules. I saw in this amp the feed the module with a extern 48V power supply. But the modules
have there own supply ,and wich supply it is. Original the use two OPS-U-500-385B . In the newer one 1200W 48V supply.

Regards
Piet

If your 301's are with transformers, then they used ICEPower 500A modules. You can get them for cheap at ebay and restore to original condition. However, they also use proprietary JRDG switching power supply to feed those modules. That may complicate restoration.

Though, the simplest way is to make old 301 into new 301 and use original ICEPower 1000 ASP modules with SMPS onboard - same as in "newer" 301s. Transformers are just for isolation purposes, used to eliminate hum and ground loops. You can use standard OPS 500 watt PFC modules, available at ebay at around 100$ / piece.
