hi guys, i have some jbl/crown plate amps that showed up for repair today.
apparently have been hit by a power spike and dont boot anymore.
ive replace the main caps for the smps (pre transformer ones ) as they were bulged on top.
after replacing the caps one booths up but has the peak indicator on all the time. after mesuring it seems to be caused by a sag on the -15v line.
the others, no such luck.
im trying to find the schematics for atleast the smps section so i can troubleshoot and fix these amps.
do any of you have access to them?
i have already checked all the fets and none returned bad.
heres pics of the internals incase someone would recognize it.

Last I looked it was cheaper to replace the modules than to repair at the component level! The only real issue is to figure out which modules are bad. For that you buy a full set.
right after i posted this, i continued troubleshooting.
found the regulators and found that the -lv reg was shot. i replaced with success, unit is now functionnal.
i have searched, it seems this amp module costs around 500$ to get.
my client will only see 1/5th the cost off a new one, he is happy!

Great. I recall paying about half that got all the modules. But I do get a discount. Also no import issues.
Mine had two bad cards seemed the user put speaker level into the line in.
