As a general rule, which is more advantageous for home use: MTM (WTW) speakers like Rey Audio or Augspurger, or large floor-standing horn speakers like the M2?
Hello
Don't think there is one, all about preference they can both work well.
Rob 🙂
I've been down this rabbit hole before. There are two major aspects that I concluded to. It has to do with the difference between the energy coming from the ceiling. With a TM the ceiling energy will be brighter. With a MTM, the energy coming from the floor versus the ceiling will be more uniform, within context of ceiling height... Another way to look at it is, a higher spl of reflective energy from the woofers coming for the ceiling. Some describe it as being more focused and in comparison I would say that the TM would be slightly more airy.As a general rule, which is more advantageous for home use: MTM (WTW) speakers like Rey Audio or Augspurger, or large floor-standing horn speakers like the M2?
This is why I chose TM instead of MTM. Lower levels of SPL from the ceiling will make the ceiling sound further away.
Beyond that, it would be a preference thing but one could debate mtm having a better image.
