JBL L100s with China Crossovers

Here's a dedicated crossover upgrade kit for the L100 by the well-regarded Troels Gravesen:

L100 crossover kit

It's a commercial kit, and some may think quite expensive, but Troels seems convinced that the quality of the JBL drivers justify the investment. You have to pay for the parts kit to get the actual component values, but I can't think of a better way to upgrade the JBLs. It is certainly on a different planet from the generic Chinese kit that started off this thread.

Internal waves

Hi,

The foam damps internal standing waves.

PR + port seems a bizarre idea, and is not common.
It allows bass tuning, (as would two simple ports).

However by blocking the port you'll get the tightest
bass. Port open the loosest. Comes with two foam
bungs. One is for blocking, the other less dense
one gives an effect somewhere between the above.

The scheme would work with two ports.

rgds, sreten.

Aaaah internal standing waves ... Well the 2 woofers make each other work as the radiator and inductive partner (what is it called when you move one woofer and the other one moves due to the induced current) ... I'd really have liked to see them split in the XO, and the matrix between the 2 ... and OK the sealed cab then is OK.

On the 603's - I didn't get those foam plugs ... but I will make some up and try it.
Cool.
Srinath.
