I have just picked up a pair of JBL D216 sigs at a garage sale, they are in as new condition and sound great.
What i would like to know is if anyone out there in DIY land has used them as Fullrangers ? I have found a very basic datasheet that is next to useless.
How would you use it ?
They don't sound so hot on an OB.

Any suggestions welcomed.

I have a pair of their 8 ohm brothers, the D208s, sitting in a large rear loaded horn that my father made in the 1960's. You will not get really deep bass out of them, but the midbass and midrange is wonderful. The response rises ~1.5 db per octave until it starts to roll off at ~2500 hz. A lot of the older designs ran them full range and used a simple high pass on the tweeter. They are very efficient, so keep that in mind when selecting a tweeter.

Also, make sure that you check the dcr of your speakers. Some of the older D216s were actually 8 ohms rather than 16.

Here is a link to some jbl literature: EXTENDED RANGE DRIVERS
