Recently having bought home a used JBL control SB5 subwoofer ... after 1 day use and getting hand itchy decided to Mod it by swapping in china made "JBL" knock off woofers into the original enclosure .... after modifications as shown below ... bass performance is about the same as the original except the original has slightly higher power handling ... i want to hear opinions from members in this forum should i use this subwoofer in the Modded form or put everything back to the original (the original drivers were removed and well kept in storage box) .... originally it has 4 drivers which could be difficult load for amplifiers but now after mod only using 2 drivers ... thanks

Hi Danny!
You don't state any particular reason for undertaking this modification apart from having itchy fingers! 😀
I would expect the sub to operate optimally when conforming to JBL's carefully calculated design.

originally it has 4 drivers...

According to JBL, the drivers face each other in matched pairs in a triple chamber bandpass enclosure, creating equal and opposite stresses that cancel each other out before being transferred to the cabinet.

For interested parties, the Control SB-5 information is downloadable from here: https://jblpro.com/en/products/control-sb-5

😅😅 Actually i am curious to know what is inside a well known design 6th order bandpass as these were not easy to build and design 😅😅 and so happen that i have 2 spares thats have equal cutout sizes i decide to remove the originals and try the aftermarkets 😅😅

I do have the intention of DIY my following subwoofer projects based on this concept so thats why i undertake this step 😅😅 the originals were a pain to access and remove 🤣

I understand, and see that you don't seem displeased with the results, having gone from this arrangement:

Ultimately, only you can decide which version to use.

Have fun with your projects! 😎
