JBL 4435 PLANS

Hey all... I'm building 4435's that are road worthy but I still need plans so if anybody's got em I'd really appreciate them.

By road worthy I mean constructed from 13 ply birch except for the baffle board and the top, bottom and sides will protrude 1" more than the flares of the horn and there will be a commercial grade metal grill over the entire front. The cabs will be covered with speaker carpet and the baffle board will be painted flat black.

5" casters (the blue ones) will be installed on the bottom and there will be JBL SR series corners installed.

There is a chance of off-axis reflexion from the horn due to the top and sides extending 1" past the flares so I will first build a horn box with the extensions and I will A-B it with its mate to see. I will even apply speaker carpet to the inside of the extensions to get an accurate example.

Although a computer might likely predict a difference I will use my audiophile ears to see if humans can tell.

If there is a problem that is too great to let slide then I may altar the dimensions slightly so that the horn can be placed farther from the top and side.

The final imperfection will be the grill causing all sorts of probs. The one problem that can be avoided though is the drum skin effect that metal grills often have; when installed flat across the front of the cab metal grills vibrate like a drum skin and every grill has a resonate frequency that becomes obvious right away... The solution is to instal it slightly arced and that in fact eliminates the resonation.

I will be using the proper drivers and even authentic cross-overs installed on the baffle boards because thats how to do it right.

Hope somebody is enthused enough to dig around for plans and get them to me.

Thanks guys,
Paul
