One of my JBL 2235H's bit the dust and needs a recone. I have a few of them and they have different (factory) dust caps which makes them sound different, mostly in the mid-bass.
The oldest is around 1992 vintage with a soft-paper dust cap which ripped after hitting the pole piece at high SPL's. Now the foam has disintegrated and I need to recone.
Another 2235H I have is a few years older and has a hard glossy paper dust cap. I don't like it as much, it seems quieter, lacking warmth and punch.
It looks like JBL has used a few different cones on this model.
Any advice for recone suppliers, to get it fixed or the JBL cone history?
