Hi I currently have this driver in a 54lt cabinet tuned to 50hz but want to put it in a more compact box, i don't need extension below 100hz, i have read that a 1cf or 28lt sealed would work. Are there any issues going sealed? Ta Greg
There are a couple of effects you should be aware of, even if they won't be deal breakers.
First, reducing the amount of bass coming from this passband may change the required crossover alignment to your subs - not a problem if this is for developing a new rig, as you'd be doing that from scratch anyway, but something to bear in mind if this is intended to be a drop in replacement in an existing setup.
Secondly, moving to a smaller sealed box means there is less opportunity for the driver to get rid of excess heat. That means you may get power compression setting in a little earlier than in the old box.
HTH,
David.

David is correct. If this is for home use, then the heat will REALLY not be an issue, unless you have a large space and like it very loud.
Thanks , yes heat/ power compression was my first thought also, I can go reflex and tune to 65/70hz this gives a slightly better output at 100hz. It just gets tricky fitting a port in such a small box. I'm building this weekend.
I have finished my new cabinets, I went with 30lt total volume tuned to 75hz, this gives me a measured flat response down to 100hz, they are very compact now and I'm super happy with how they turned out.

Nice! How did you do the routing for the grille? I'd ruin the box trying that 🙂
Edit: with trimmer guide?

Thanks for the kind words, the grill I rolled with a piece 25mm metal pipe that was screwed lengthwise with about 10 screws, a bit like rolling dough/pastry but the dough is attached to the rolling pin. Hope that makes sense. Greg
