I see that JBL says to use a one cu/ft sealed box, but when I use unibox it says .5 cu/ft. is correct. Will it work in a .5 box?
I've got a couple but haven't tried them in that size sealed cab.
It looks like in a .5 cu. ft. box it would be close to a Qtc of .707 Second Order Butterworth (B2) Max Flat Amplitude.
This is a popular median alignment for sealed cabs and probably why Unibox picked it.

remember to subtract for the volume of the speaker and anything else inside the box, and take into account box losses, Ql...

What is the volume a 2206 displaces?
RobH - I understand JBL know's best, but why would the recomend a box that has a Qtc of .57. There is some additional extension of 1.5 db at 60 Hz in the larger box? In my application I will not be going lower than 80 or 100 hz.

Yes a larger box would drop the F3. A sealed cab has a gradual -12db/octave roll off anyway.
Philosophically, I consider a woofer to be an engine that has a performance envelope. You can jam alignments, trading off goals, extension for size, and vs versa etc.
I have heard the 2206 in a variety of cab designs and sizes, and implemented corrected sounded great.

FYI: I just finished rebuilding 2 of these and a 2226H and ran impedance sweeps and T/S parms. I have considered making a "standard" 1 cu. ft. test box, for the 2206, but nothing that small, even though it fits T/S wise, JBL recommendations are from 1cu ft sealed - 4 cu. ft vented.
The pro use apps I am most familiar with are in larger cabs.
May I ask? What's the app.? Are you planning on hi-passing to these w an active xover, w subs for the bottom octaves?

This is for a very simple home theater setup, not really to worried about super acurracy. Active crossover, with a single self powered Pioneer subwoofer for the bottom. The sub has a self contained electronic crossover variable from 50 to 120 Hz. I got some small cheap book shelves (don't ask) that can't get anywhere 120 with any authority. Looking for something to fill in some impact. I was thinking at 80/100 Hz to 250 Hz.
