Jack 3.5mm for a Sony WM-D6C

Hi,

I currently restore a Sony WM-D6C Walkman, and there is broken 3.5mm Jack, that seems to have unusual dimensions: see the attached photo, it is the RED one.

Replacing this broken jack with one having a different size would be a nightmare, so :

do you know where I could buy such a 3.5mm stereo jack ?

Thank you very much,

Mine are 14 x 12 mm, I checked a spare set I had for a PC
Try the sites I mentioned above, and try to work out which is switched.
At worst, you will have to stick a new jack upside down, and wire it in.
Not for the faint hearted.
And there must be room in the housing.

This is the regular size : a have a set of them, but not in red to keep the original look 😀
I would prefer to find a replacement one with the same size,
I send you a PM: check your input box...

I have not found the URL of "MX india": can you post it ?

Good idea: I have already done more difficult than this... But look at you box

Thanks !

Slight spelling mistake in my PM.
Stereo sockets are about 10 Rupees wholesale, the postage will be more than the item cost, RS has the black ones for about $8 here.
Just color the visible part, and use the ones you have spare, put them upside down so hole matching is not a problem.
Use hot melt or carpenter's glue, those can be removed if needed, unlike epoxy.

I don't have to replace any jack but the Microphone (red) one.

I understood that the Microphone Jack for the WM-D6C was specifically manufactured for Sony and can't be replaced by a standard Jack: is that what you mean ?

Jack = Male pin
Socket = female, the receptacle of the pin.
You want a female socket.
For one or two, really too much trouble.
PVA emulsion is carpenter's white glue, dries to transparent or so.
Hot melt is the glue from a glue gun, sometimes used for making adhesive coatings on paper and film.
But here, as in below picture, a dab from it is used to hold a socket in place on PCB.
Or whatever that needs sticking.

The postage to France will be something like 1.5 Euros, the parts are about 0.3 Euros, and the bank or Paypal fees will be 5 Euros at least.
Add to that the paperwork cost, Customs declarations, and so on.
So your 0.3 Euro item will cost you more like 10 Euros.

Nobody will take the trouble, unless you say send it just like an ordinary letter, I will pay...

Anyway, you found a replacement, as per your PM, so that is one issue solved.
I put this in public, so that it is available to all the viewers.
