One of the nice things about the white Fostex cones is that they can be made almost any colour... here is a recent set i did for a client in NY.
She likes these better than her TB 1772 (both sonically & cosmetically). I expect the TB to land here soon for the same treatment.
Here is a robin's egg blue FE126. These are in the UK now... they are pre-EnABL.
Another shade of blue... pretreated (and matched) for the client to do their own EnABL
More to follow.

As carefully engineered as the Fostex seems to be, wouldn't you worry about adding mass or stiffening the cone by applying.....anything?

Quite a lot of experimentation went into these mods... what comes out the other end is quite a bit better than stock.
The materials added go add mass, not much but enuff to lower Fs & efficiency a bit. But a change in the weather can make a bigger difference. Materials added remain flexible Except for the trifoil ring -- it has the specific purpose of disrupting the 7k resonance that exists in the stock driver. Flexation thou is more controlled -- or at least it would seem from the lowering of the noise floor.

After owning several pairs of eNABled drivers, a la P-10, there's no worries at all.As carefully engineered as the Fostex seems to be, wouldn't you worry about adding mass or stiffening the cone by applying.....anything?

The end result is superior, IMHO.
Not surprising, as the Fostex designed cabinets can be improved on as well.
Anyone ever asked for a refund, Dave?

No. Many have bought more after living with the 1st pair. The green ones are #3 for that client.

Here are a couple more examples.
This one is an experiment to see about blending 2 colours together to get a gradient... i didn't suceed but learned a lot and still ended up with a pretty set of drivers (we have just built a special set of mFonken to house these (for our Fostex archives)
A set of light blue with purple spots:
One more for tonight. A client had his DCA4 sent directly here. He wanted Maroon with yellow spots. I drove a maroon Jaguar for awhile. I used that as a colour reference. He loves them.

I trust it didn't have yellow spots. 😉
very late reply, but couldn't resist;
as you well know, all spots on the Jag would have been an iron oxide colour

Good stuff Dave. About how much does a process such as that decrease the efficiency? Im only working with ~3W to power my FE207s.
I noticed virtually no difference in spl's between fe126e's & fe126eNAablGood stuff Dave. About how much does a process such as that decrease the efficiency? Im only working with ~3W to power my FE207s.
this with 3.5 wpc
Don
With the added mass some efficiency is lost (usually on the order of 1/3-1/2 dB, maybe a bit more on the bigger drivers). But downward dynamic range is improved more than making up the difference.

Just off the bench:
FE126eN^2 -- 1st of the new Fostex FE126En with EnABL2 (and a fancy colour)
And a customer's set of FF165KeN out of a set of Super Abbey's in a more conservative scheme:

I've been too busy to keep checking in on this forum, but I am very happy to see the colourful drivers! Lots of ideas spring to mind.
🙂
A couple more.
FE126eN that will go into RonHorn A126 as computer speakers
And Mark Audio #6/CSS EL166 midbasses (a matching set of FF85KeN slots in between)

The 1st set of Alpair12eN (off to Greece):
And a set of FE207eN (target was to get the spots to match the plugs):

One of my favourite experiments, my personal FE126eN until they met an untimely end at this year's diyFEST
