in my CD304mkII I have noticed a 7808 regulator, from it's output a 2,2k resistor goes to an electrolytic cap ( which on the other leg is grounded ) and from there another resistor 2,7k goes to the output of the TDA1541. Same for other channel.
IMHO this brings the TDA output close to 0V, and eases the job of the I/V stage.
Also I still got the feeling it sounds a little better than my CD880.
Is it really better ?

Philips is not the only one that does this. No trick, opamps often sound better without offset. Though you will find some arguing they do not sound better because there are no technical reasons...
At least one major downside is evident - all the remaining ripple and noise of this additional supply line is very directly inserted into the audio signal.
