Hi, i recieved my OHP today and its SUPER BRIGHT!! i can even see a full picture while ALL lights on my pc monitor on and tv on.but im really concerned about the heat this thing gets hot!
I dont have any heat measuring devices and i dont know the exact temperature, i do know my LCD panel's max temp is 45 degree....i wish i knew the maximum heat output of my apollo a1-1000.

If any one has any info or has any ideas please reply.

um, a thermometer? should be pretty cheap.

45C is not really that hot.. about 115F or something I think. If it feels really hot then I'd hook up kind of a fan to blow over it. Remember, electronics do not like heat, cooler is usually better. (to an extent)

first i need enough money to buy it..lol

i feel worried about the heat...are any of you guys experiencing this problem? it doesnt burn my hand but its enough for concern.

another question, can you guys see your projectors when ALL lights are on?

and how far from the screen are your projectors? mine is like 5 feet from wall and im not getting a very big picture, roughly 28-40+ inches.

Put more fans in the OHP... Or, for now, just get one of those 30cm desk fans, and put it blowing onto the projector....45 degrees is pretty hot.... what about lifting the LCD pannel a cm or half from the OHP??

the lcd has rubber feet, it doesnt touch the glass directly. and it has 2 protective glasses. and im sfraid insatlling fans in the box wont work it gets REALLY hot inside everything is metal, im not worrying about the heat inside its the heat that rises up to the fresnel thats bad. its weird...the fresnel is PLASTIC so maybe its not that hot after all...i hope.

Yes, but if you put more fans in the box, its drawing the heat away to the sides, rather than it rising up.. 🙂

hmmm..good idea 🙂 but i dont think there will be enough space..since going to retrofit it with MH bulbs, i have to bear with the heat because i have 2 bulbs left.

even though this OHP is a bit hot i LOVE it! 😀 its WAYYY smaller than i imagined but big enough for retrofitting. besides the heat my other problem this OHP is the focusing its a bit hard to keep the image straight, but when its straight its BEAUTIFUL! im not even using a screen yet and i dont have any problems with whites or blacks everything is nearly perfect brightness,contrast and everything else is on default. this panel is amazing😀 😀

If you haven't modded your OHP to use a brighter blub the head should be more than fine for using an LCD .. remember OHP's are mainly used for transperencies and when designing them they have to make it cool enough for it not to curl those thin *** peices of plastic 😛 ... I'll be getting a 7300 lumens OHP ..

I dont plan to mod my OHP brighter bulbs i plan to mod it for cooler bulbs brightness is second, my current OHP is VERY bright i estimate it at over 8000 lumens maybe more.I want to use a 250 watt MH or a 400 watter...but im unsure if it will work...please give me your thoughts people 🙂

Well ...

Just remember this 😛 ... use up your current bulbs first cause 400w MH bulbs for your projector are gonna cost you an arm and a leg hehe ... as far as your projector supporting lower level bulbs eg. 250w - I'd suggest at opening the manual (if you have one, and see the range of bulbs it supports) if you have no manual goto the manufactuers website and see, if that doesn't work e-mail them and happily wait for a reply

I dont plan to use the MH bulb on the current socket i plan to use a different setup and remove the current light source before. and using MH would be WAYYYYYYY ceaper than using ANY light source for any projector. MH bullbs and ballast are around 60$ and last 20,000 hours , my current DYS bulbs are 7$ each and last 75 hours if i buy 25 dys bulbs it would cost me 149$ and it would last 1879 hours...so MH is better and cheaper

well, the ballast is actually 60 bucks, while the lamp is about 30 so in all, with a socket, it will cost ya 100. i know so because i just got all three for that amount.
