Issues with CM6631A soundcard and Raspberry Pi

I have the basic , cheap , self-powered USB-SPDIF board which I was using on a PC with XP . This evening I powered down the PC , disconnected this and reconnected to a Raspberry Pi running Raspyfi . I also tried Rune and got the same issue , there is no sound . When running on the PC , the laser on the Toslink connection glowed but nothing on the PI . I am under the impression after reading a few threads this IC is pre-programmed at manufacture and drivers such as the one I use for XP also reprogram the IC which I believe is the issue I may be having and the possible cure being a factory reset . Or am I mistaken ? I was under the impression these DACs were plug and play 🙁

Change the firmware from 0108 VID 0x0D8C PID 0x0314 to 0101 VID 0x0D8C PID 0x0319 to get the SPDIF out to work. on Rasberry pi and volumio.
