Issue with tweeters from KEF C7 speakers

I have had a pair of Kef c7 first hand for several years. I really enjoyed their sound.

In January one tweeter stopped working.
So I unscrewed the face plates and did a tweeter switch (from one speaker to the other) to check if this is it (and unfortunately it is tweeters fault) and it is not a crossover issue.
I have been in contact with the representative in Greece but for 2 months now they can't find it.
They tell me that because of covid everything is late and wait some time more etc.
So i am alerted that i won't find anything and i am in search for a speare one. I've also looked on ebay but I can't find it there either.

I'm desperate, I liked their sound and I didn't want to change them. But I don't see any other solution.

I emailed gp electronics & acoustics co. ltd which is probably the OEM manufacturer. No answer.
The same for KEF on FB.

Searching the internet I found the following (which comes from the attached pdf)

The speakers are the ones at the attached picture. They have a front wooden/black painter plate to cover the speakers bolts.Tweeter is shown at the other picture.

Any ideas with what tweeters i can replace the old ones? Maybe a modification ?

It appears we need 4 ohm, aluminium dome, around 86 dB sensitivity and an appropriate physical size.

What is the size of the tweeter cut out in the cabinet and the size of the tweeter opening in the decorative front?

I can add that the crossover frequency is 2,500 Hz.

"KEF’s 19mm (0.75in.) tweeter and ‘tangerine’ waveguide is complemented by a pair of 165mm (6.5in.) bass drivers."

Perhaps you could enlarge the cabinet cut out and fit a tweeter which has a flat faceplate so you can fit it flush to the cabinet and not foul the fitting of the decorative front. The tweeter dome would have to peer though the aperture in the decorative front.

Yes I am prepared that I have to modify the wood (also prepared for the change in their appearance ,not good at woodwork 😁) .right now I have a useless pair of speakers and no solution from the constructor.

So what do you propose in this scenario?

First of all, I propose you buy affordable tweeters so as not to risk a huge amount of cash on the venture.

The experts will tell you that tweeter substitution is a hit or miss prospect unless measurement/modelling can be undertaken.

Focussing on not risking a large sum of money, would there be sufficient available space to fit the following tweeter?

https://en.toutlehautparleur.com/do...-4-ohm-1-inch-voice-coil-3-94-inch-front.html

(You may have to wire a 2.2 ohm, 10 W ceramic, wire-wound resistor in series with the tweeter +ve lead in order to provide a small degree of attenuation.)

You must understand that, whatever tweeter you choose, you will be taking a chance on the outcome. You could repair the damaged speaker first and compare the sound quality with the undamaged speaker. If the outcome is satisfactory, you would then modify the second speaker to match.

How did you manage to remove the faceplate? I also have to do a tweeter repair/replacement on my KEF C6LCR speaker and don't know how to remove it.
