Good evening,
I'm wondering if anyone can provide further information regarding these speakers. They were pulled from (2) Telefunken Jubilate 1261W satellite speakers. I have reason to believe they may be Isophon in make? They are oval or elliptical and 5" x 7" (13cm x 18cm). They measure 3.8 and 4 ohms.
The only markings are on the paper cones-
1318/19
CH50
17 8 - 268 (on left speaker)
29 8 - 252 (on right speaker)
They came in two very small oval cabinets made from 1/4 plywood. Would it be more advantageous to use these in a small open baffle at ear level? The bass response would seem to be poor in such a tight box?
Their sound is not bad from a stereo SE EL84 driving source. As I only have 4 ohm taps on the OT secondaries, I would like to either rework these into something more listenable or find other high sensitive fullrange 4 ohm speakers for a reasonable price.
Thanks for your time- I welcome any input.

I haven't seen that particular driver, but the others i have tested do have Qt such that they should do well on an OB. For deep bass you will likely need a helper woofer as is the case in most situations.

Thanks for the replies!
What kind of open baffle are we talking here? Could you point me to some links for DIY construction? Thanks!!

I found more information regarding this speaker on radiomuseum. (How did I miss that?)
Isophon P1318/19/8
3.5 watt
4 ohm
130 x 180mm
70-12000Hz
115HZ (resonance?)
So it appears these are more midrange speakers rather than fullrange. I would need a woofer and tweeter sitting on top just to achieve 20-20000Hz. I may be better off in just purchasing some cheaper Isophon fullranges to use as open baffle or just use a better fullrange 4 ohm speaker.

This was already seen in the catalogs linked above, for instance 1954 p. 3.
Generally I can not recommend to use these speakers for todays purposes.
Most of the Isophon manufactured units are of low quality, with few exceptions.

Thank you for the reply. That is good to know about the Isophon speakers.
I have one more for you, pulled from the same Telefunken radio. It is the main 23x10cm speaker and has the following markings-
On basket in red- 341912
On magnet- CKS
B-19/4180-33Cu
DIN45578
Does this appear to Isophon as well? This one sounded good to my ears when used by itself with the orignal EL95 SE radio.
Many thanks.
Edit: I found a reference to DEW Magneti-Abrik Dortmond?
