Isolated gate driver with adjustable dead band

I tried searching, both the forum and google but it was hard to narrow down enough without being too much. A link to a previous thread about the subject (if any) and this one closed would not offend me in any way, so here goes:

I'm in the process of building an SMPS prototype. The only problem so far is the gate drive. In the past, I have used IR2113 for both high and low side but I find them to be undependable. Also, I would like to have galvanic isolation for both high and low side in order to suppress as much ground noise/voltage jumps in the ground plane as possible.

Furthermore, I have had problems before where the dead band (don't know if this is the correct term here, I try to refer to the time where both the high and low transistor gate is turned off in order to allow them to turn off properly) between high and low side in a leg is created on the "secondary" side, close to the MOSFET/IGBT so that Vgs/Vgd and Cgs/Cgd will have any influence on the off time.

As I see it, I will either have to supply power and signal via a transformer and make a floating gate driver on the secondary or drive the gates directly via transformers. I prefer the later solution but I'm not sure how to create the dead band on the primary side.

Anyone done this? Any suggestions or links?

Wait wait, if I understand you have problems with dead time(band as you say), you use gate trafo to drive IGBTs/MOS...
If you drive trafo with IC like TL or SG you can set dead time there, also you can speed things up by using fast turn off circuit for every fet/IGBT

If you have used IR before, you can use gate trafo now, 2 secondarys, each driving one fet

Well for IC for sure IR, I use it and it works great, don't know why it didn't for you, I should see schematic first...

then you have ICs that are like half of IR, up to 9A of output current, I think they are in dip8,...

And you could do something like discrete UCD style gate drive

But I would use gate trafo + fast turn off circuit and even more the IR2110 in my case.
