Do you think the mid-tweeter section a little big compared to the bass cabinet:

But from the side, it looks a little bit better:

This is my version of Troels AcapellaSe. I decided to separate the speaker into two pieces to make moving a heck lot easier. But in doing so, visually the two pieces don't quite seem to integrate visually.
I can't believe building speaker can be quite time-consuming. Took me almost forever to put on the veneer.
I just can't imagine how long it will take me to put on lacquer.

a wrap around grille on the bass section could blend the
two, it could also reflect the edge angle of the open baffle.

Do you have a picture of a "wrap around grill" might look like?
I've put the pictures at bucket.com

Crude, but I think you'll get the idea :

tungsten said:"to make moving easier" - now that´s a different design criterion. To me, moving two boxes instead of four seems easier.
If you could actually physically lift them up which is certainly my limitation. Dividing them into four pieces will reduce the weight.
More and more speakers designs have tweeters mounted on very narrow baffles, or even no baffle at all. Perhaps on a tapered baffle or inset in a ball. Not meant as a critisim, but that large flat face above the tweeter doesn't seem like it could help anything.
Generally speaking a flat reflective surface that exceeds a wavelength probably shouldn't be near a drivers face. Due to cost or styling many speakers violate this idea, but if you are going to expend all this effort....
Maybe you could angle it back just above the tweeter (to preserve inner volume?) Round is better but wood shapes and finishes are tough for round.

hi andy2,
if you want to improve it visualy, you could attach matching wings to the woofer section, like the continuation of the top
it will have no real function, but it should look a lot better
