Ok I have some really good car audio subs 2 JL W7 10's in the car and I have 3 JL W0 10's just sittin around. Is it possible with out hurting the speaker to hook those up with a plate amp and use those as my HT SUB/s. If so what kind of box is needed? Here are the spec for the subs
JL Audio 10 inch sub

Free Air Resonance 25.6 Hz
Electrical Q(Qes) .413
Mechanical Q (Qms) 8.560
Total Speaker Q (Qts) .394
Equiv. Complance (Vas) 2.45ft or 69.4 liters
One-way linear excursion .340 in.
Effciency 86.3 dB
Effective Piston Area 57.7 in.
DC Resistance 6.43 ohms
Nominal Impedance 8 ohms
Power handling 125 watts cont.
Mounting Depth 5.375 in

Thanks in advance!!!

Here is the system in a 60 litre box filled with 40% damping material, using a port of 100 mm diameter, length 464 mm. The gray maximum output level is is based a guesstimated Xmax of 5 mm. A baffle step from a 300-by-400 mm baffle is included.

Seems possible enough... 🙂

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

I don't have any experience with using car subs in a house, but if you just going to use them for general use and nothing special, I bet a W0 would sound fine. I've had good experience with JL's in the past. As for the amp, I can't see how a properly sized/matched amp could possibly hurt the woofer.

I suggest using a sealed box to preserve the sound quality on a lower end sub like that. Just my opinion. Good luck.

Thanks Guys I figure if I get the box right they should sound great I mean if you go to the JL website It looks like they are putting the JL W7 in thier subs and charging $2000+ for it. So I guess I will be trying this.

P.S. Svante How much is the program in U.S. dollars?

I think I am going to use the WO's (3 of them) for now and leave the W7's in my car. Because I don't think I want to spend quite that much money on the amp it will take like roger said "a massive amp" to run those W7's.
Roger and or anyone else what kind of box for the 3 W0 setup do you think and I need some input on a amp also.
Thanks for the help guys!

The vented box Svante modeled looks promising. Of course, if you had 3 w0s you would need 3x the volume which would be over 6 cubic feet. (Are you married? (this is a joke, sort of...)) In terms of power I figure buy as much as you can afford. You can always turn down the gain if you have to much. For a more definitive answer look toward modeling.
Regards,
Roger
