It pop´t up a offer to buy a new pair in box for 45% of ordenary price, so i begain to investigate the tweeter.
And find out that it had been used by quite respectable manufacturers, so therefore still a little interested.
The prices of everything in DIY have become too expensive, so it will also be very affordable comparatively.
No, it is not acceptable. I use SB26ADC as a sort of baseline - it is widely available, costs ~$55, usable from ~1500 Hz, have good dispersion, and distortion is below -50..-55 dB at 90 dB at 1 m.

To put it in a further perspective, LP 90.28/N92 has more distortion at 90 dB than SB26 at 105 dB, assuming the chart from dibirama is reliable. Frequency response is weird too, XO design will be more troublesome than basically with any other tweeter.

I also use SB26ADC in another build since 3 years back, and they are good.
So good tweeter even i like 3-4 dB more sensivity, as the Sica has.
I get the new pair of Sica for 74 Euro, its a bargin!
The SB26 isen´t useable from under ca 2500 hz with my SPL levels.
1500 hz is for max 100 dB SPL ?
106 dB at about 1% THD. Crossing an octave higher can give another 5-6 dB of headroom, adding waveguide another 5, any further is a compression driver territory 🙂
Or maybe a territory of a small 3-4" pro mid crossed at ~4 kHz.

Good tweeter, but (used to be) prone to some inconsistency between production runs.
How old are these LP90s? Over the past 5 years the price has increased from €45.00 to €67.00.
