The colpitts would be better with a FET, and use a comparator instead of the inverter. There are ready schematics around.

Hello
Looking at the pdf doc, the Pierce circuit seem to be the best for a simple circuits, but this doc don't talk about jitter in crystal oscillators circuits.
Thank

Hello
I've done a Google search, it's a bit puzzeling, some texts say that the Pierce crystal oscillators are much noisyer than the colpitts crystal oscillators, others texts say that the Pierce crystal oscillators are the better .... ??
Between the Pierce and the colpitts crystal oscillators, which one do have the lowest jitter ?
Btw, I include an image of a Pierce crystal oscillators.
Thank
Bye

Bufff, superb information Patrick, thanks to share.

In the link I attached in Post 3, the various circuits are rated for their stability and power supply rejection. There is little mention of phase noise.
Here is a couple more to consider :

I always try to understand the subject first before copying anything from the net.
As for oscillators, I am still in the middle of that process, since early this year.
Just wish to have more (free) time.
😉

- Is this cristal clock schematic would have a low jitter ?
