Is this cheap R2R DAC any good ?

I'd be a little concerned about the buck regulator there to feed the digital part. Not that switching supplies are bad in themselves but they're tricky to get right in terms of layout and filtering not to interfere with the SQ.

The buck regulator could be replaced by a linear reg but it would then get hot and need a heatsink most likely. If you could figure out how to mount the heatsink you could replace the switching reg. I just flag it up as a potential issue as Chinese PCB designers aren't widely acclaimed for their mixed-signal layout skills, in general 😛
