I recieved the 250watt light kit from DIYLabs recently and have just tried to give it a test run. All the wiring is corrent, ive checked quite a few times, but all I get is a slight buzzing noise from the ballast.
On closer inspection the bulb appears to have some stuff thats looks like paint flakes freely moving around in the very centre. Is this bulb stuffed?
If not what else could the problem be?

I'm no expert, but I think those 'flakes' are normal, perhaps they are metal salts? I read about the technology late at night one time... 😉
I too got a 250w light kit from DPC - How long are you leaving it on for 'buzzing'? Initially mine took about 2 minutes before it finally fired the bulb, I admit I too panicked at first

Thats not normal, it should fire strait away then get brighter as it warms up.
Trev🙂
Maybe it seemed longer than it was, I was afterall pretty anxious to see it working 😀
It still takes about 30 seconds now to light, but I'm told that is normal for the IceCap electronic ballast?
