3M 5300

To late to turn back i have brought this panel and a converter which allows you to have a tv input on a computer screen.

And the panel was only £56

Anyway loads of other people use 640x480 and when it is on a big screen it dosent matter.

3M 5300

I belive that, to date, I am the only member of this forum who has had extensive experience with the 5300. You aren't going to like what I have to say about it.

1. Although it can display 24,000 colours, you will find that using that function gives you a terrible picture. You will have to settle for 9600 colours if you want anything near bearable projection.

2. Refresh rate is ~50ms. This produces interference lines across the diagonal whenever there is a lot of movement on the screen. This tends to ruin your enjoyment of a movie.

640x480@90" projection diagonal isn't pretty. Screen door effect is high.

Having said all that, the 5300 is the panel I am currently using and i am happy to watch movies on it now and then. Maybe if the refresh rate was higher I'd use my setup more frequently. It isn't a panel to buy if you are looking for quality but it's certainly suitable for use in building a DIY projector where things tend to be bashed and kicked about a lot!

3M 5300

Ok so the 3M 5300 isnt the best of panels but it is just about watchable until you get a better pannel and you think boy was that old one bad right !!!!!

Also what is the screen door effect thingy metioned above?

And could i push the panel to 800x600
